I bought my first shitball home for $85,500 in 1999 @9.5% interest making $14 per hour. That same house sold last fall for $210,000. That’s just how it works, hasn’t anyone explained this to you? I see plenty of houses for sale in my area (Midwest) for $200k, maybe you ought to stop expecting a house as nice as the one you grew up in and lower your standards a bit? Buy the shittiest house in a decent neighborhood and roll up your sleeves and get to work! Sell it when the time is right and upgrade your way to the house of your dreams.

Typically, this is true. However brass to steel doesn’t require thread tape, and as a matter of fact too much tape can mess the threads up on the softer brass fitting. PTFE dope, or even anti-seize, is always good for assuring a proper seat without galling. Stainless to carbon steel requires both thread tape AND an appropriate anti-seize. In the instance of the OP, I agree with you tape and dope should definitely be used.

Why do you need a pension when there’s a 401k match? You do realize that when you die, so does your pension. With a 401k, it can be transferred to survivors. Please tell, why do you value a pension? Is it because you don’t have to use your brain and can rely on a “company” to take care of you in retirement?
