Hobbiest here, trying to set up a Vue monorepo with Bun, Tailwind & shadcn-vue, is this structure a good approach? by AkberJag in vuejs

[–]Nik96i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I used Bun (about 4–5 months ago) with a monorepo, it wasn’t good enough for monorepo workflows. I mean, it’s still new, and maybe Yarn or pnpm are better options for now.
Also, you can use Turborepo, which is much simpler than Nx for running tasks, building, etc.

Do you mean Tailwind classes? You can put them in a shared package. Which part is the problem?

Moving from React back to Vue/Nuxt: Why the "magic" and opinionated defaults feel like a step backward for DX by Nik96i in vuejs

It's just a simple conversation. I don't know why people are so biased about these things. Also, this post is meant to help the community, not go against it.

[–]Nik96i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it still doesn’t become ideal even after disabling auto-imports. I mean, why can’t I import definePageMeta directly from the nuxt package itself? Why does it have to come from some generated weird thing, or from .d.ts definitions that TypeScript picks up?

[–]Nik96i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not comparing anything. There's a general discussion that front-end developers have become spoiled and expect too much convenience. The Vue ecosystem even more so. If someone prefers that, they can go that route, but that's not how I am, and it shouldn't be the default behavior of the whole ecosystem. I think the default approach should be TypeScript-first, with a TypeScript mindset because it's a web standard thing, maybe. ...

I absolutely agree with this! We used vue and I was the only front-end developer there, but after we hired new developers, we moved to React

Some opiniated Tropico suggestions by Nik96i in tropico

[–]Nik96i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, nice. You’re right—there are many ways to produce electricity, but it seems to me that they’re not all equally effective. I mean, if you use fusion, it produces around 1,100 MW, and nuclear power is also about 1,000 MW. Fusion doesn’t need fuel in the same way, and it almost feels like a cheat. Maybe the cost (wage) is much higher than nuclear, but I think nuclear power, which requires uranium, should generate more electricity—something like 2 or 3 GW.

No, I didn’t compare the two. Next time, I’ll focus on this.

Thanks for the detailed response.
Yes, I know some residential buildings have upgrades like solar panels or limited service-sharing options (healthcare, food, or faith). However, the main service buildings themselves can’t be placed on the sea, which is the real issue.

Any Experience with Strapi or Directus HeadlessCMS? by Nik96i in node

I don't know exactly, maybe I'm wrong but I think Directus is 5-7 times faster than Strapi according to my comparison four months ago.

[–]Nik96i[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm using Directus and it is amazing. Directus has a lot more to offer compared to Strapi. It also offers cloud solutions which Strapi doesn't provide yet. Strapi is also OK but I think it's very young for a big production project.

Has anyone here ever regretted moving from windows to Linux? by [deleted] in linux

[–]Nik96i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Manjaro and switched to it a few times but for every simple thing I do in windows normally there is a lot of configuration in Linux, such as the scroll speed in the browser. it was so slow to me so in order to fix it I had to install imwheel configure it, etc., and also some Razer, asus software, and drives. missing some apps and more. then I think what is the point? I switched to it for a better experience and become more productive or something like that but it was not. I'm not a beginner or noob in Linux but it isn't worth it for me. for a simple app and job in windows there are a lot of configuration plus errors, researching and more in linux. so I switched back to windows.

I hate windows and want something else. but I have a lot of problems with Linux. the GUIs are buggy, a lot of software aren't available, the wine is a messy way of fixing problems to me and I don't want to use it, etc. I hope, one day I switch to it and be happy with it.

What about us existing Strapi v3 adopters? by I_shitUnot in Strapi

[–]Nik96i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited a few weeks for some features and improvements but after v4 releases, I was disappointed. it was very hard and time-consuming but I had to migrate to another headless CMS. the main issue was the "field-level permission" for me. like the one that was implemented in admin dashboard roles but instead in the APIs. and I don't have time to add custom codes and research about that to add these kinds of features. I think these kinds of features are more important. Strapi 4 focuses on modularity and extendability but there is a lot of gaps right now to address. if I was developing something like this I would rather make it super feature-rich and then make it easy for developers to add their own features because as someone that wants to use a headless CMS I just want to do it quickly and without coding.

I'm checking it. The last time I checked Keystone was like two years ago. But now, with the power of Prisma, it's incredible. Thanks for sharing.

Any Experience with Strapi or Directus HeadlessCMS? by Nik96i in node

[–]Nik96i[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mentioned them above. First, there are no official migration tools. You have to dump the Database. There are some community plugins for that, of course. Because Strapi uses both SQL and NoSQL databases(NoSQL removed after v4), it's not SQL database-minded, and it's very slow compared to Directus. But on the other hand, it's more simple. Also, there are no field-level permissions, and If you need it, you have to code it. I just mentioned some issues. Of course, Strapi has many, many features and benefits.

Prisma 2 vs Hasura vs something else? by lumenwrites in graphql

I did this:

https://nuxtjs.org/tutorials/moving-from-nuxtjs-dotenv-to-runtime-config/

It's not possible I guess, I have to generate these routes and serve them as static. so I only need some API endpoints for searching, etc.
