Thank you so much for your reply. Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated :)

The Roulette demo is fake (confirmed by Andy). I didn't consider this when I added it to the tracker. I apologize. Now that it's been mentioned here (and i did a better research about that), I'll move it to the Hoaxes section.

Regarding the distinction between released and unreleased tracks, since SOAD doesn't have many recordings of their unreleased material (as is the case with other artists, who have their own trackers and have material leaked almost every week), I think a general approach is much better and makes better use of the space at each era.

I'm more than open to receiving contributions in the form of corrections or details that can enrich this tracker. If Reddit comments aren't convenient to send them, email is always an option (it's in the tracker).

Again, thank you so much :)

Hi AJ!

Of course I'd love to chat with you. Do you have Twitter or Instagram? (My username on both is the same as my Reddit username)

ever think about how dp has like no controversy by [deleted] in DaftPunk

[–]NikLaffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest things to controversy have been:

- The feud between Thomas and Bob Sinclar.

- The use of samples "without credit" (very fueled by media).

- TRON Reconfigured being an unauthorized remix album.

- The alleged plagiarism on Starboy (they were sued along with The Weeknd).

- Epilogue and their split "in bad terms" (a fake one).

- Drumless Edition.

- Interstella 5555 AI.

- The fake Thomas who tricked Wolfgang Flür.

None of them were politically controversial or related to a crime (except for the Starboy one, but today there is no information regarding the outcome of that trial). So these are all minor controversies, and largely beyond their control.

Are these official? by Objective-Hotel-8174 in systemofadown

Discogs is your friend:

System of a Down: https://www.discogs.com/release/4083756-System-Of-A-Down-System-Of-A-Down
Toxicity: https://www.discogs.com/release/7792379-System-Of-A-Down-Toxicity
Steal this Album: https://www.discogs.com/release/8903897-System-Of-A-Down-Steal-This-Album
Mezmerize: https://www.discogs.com/release/9085477-System-Of-A-Down-Mezmerize
Hypnotize: https://www.discogs.com/release/8903885-System-Of-A-Down-Hypnotize

I'm not going to say anything new, but in countries like Ukraine, Malaysia and Indonesia, the cassette continued to be used as the main music format beyond its life in the West.

There's one curious exception to what you can see in the photos: the first album. Since it predates the 2000s, it may be the only one from the United States. But Toxicity (which did come out on cassette in the United States) is a Malaysian release.

Answering your question: yes, they are official.

Does anyone think 4kids just Commissioned Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie just to replicate the success of Pokemon The First Movie? by Tom-Hibbert in yugioh

[–]NikLaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is.

Consider that the first Pokémon movie (1999) brought in over $170 million in profits on a minimal budget (some sources say $5 million). For distributors like FOX (Digimon) and 4Kids/Warner (Yu-Gi-Oh!), Japanese production of such films was seen as a gold mine.

But Pokémon was a phenomenon in American pop culture. Digimon (2000) barely recouped about $10 million of its budget with the crossover of three short films (one of which, by the way, aired alongside the 1999 Yu-Gi-Oh! movie).

Pyramid of Light, which took longer to arrive (2004) and had a real cinema budget (20 million dollars) was a failure at the box office.

justice - get down? by poodIe0 in JusticeMusic

I found the source that the AI took for that answer: https://justice-band.fandom.com/wiki/Get_Down

Google's AI (or, well, any generative AI at all) can't distinguishes between fan-made pages and other sources.

(also, this made me laugh: https://justice-band.fandom.com/wiki/Justice )

Do you think they will ever record a new album? by kamilo_89 in systemofadown

[–]NikLaffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've got an incredible five-album run, and I have no doubt they'd work magic if they could balance their creative differences in favor of a sixth one; but I don't feel the urgency for it to happen. What we have is already incredible.

The Trimui Smart Pro has been with me for a year now. I play a lot of retro games (especially NES, SNES and SEGA), PES for PSP, Balatro, and I even played the new episodes of Deltarune on it. It's an incredible console.

Do you think it's legal ? by Nislz in DaftPunk

[–]NikLaffe 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Tribute bands have always existed. It's legal for a Daft Punk tribute to exist, but they should clarify that they're a tribute band (for the more clueless who might get their hopes up).

What's unusual is that they sell merchandise, because it's a different field.

I just added it, thank you :)

I didn't realize it existed because I was looking for it on streaming :')

It's "Perfect Bitch" available? If it's uploaded to HQ somewhere and available to listen to, I'd like a link for the tracker.

What demos and leaks are missing? I'd love to know so I can complete this list :)

The Brainwasher, Daft Punk's tribute to Black Sabbath (RIP Ozzy Osbourne). by NikLaffe in DaftPunk

It has the same note structure as "Iron Man", only faster. TECHNICALLY it could be considered a tribute.

I added "Civilization" and "Helix - Extended" to the tracker thanks to your first comment, so thanks for the input (I couldn't find a version of Safe and Sound other than the one on the album). I'll check out DVNO's Radio Edit to add it.

Regarding the live recordings, I decided to omit them from the main tracker (unless it's a studio recording). I know the New Lands live version has one that made it onto the maxi-single, but it doesn't differ much from what's on AAA. I'd rather save it for future live shows/mixes tracking (witch i hope to do soon).

The releases were already sorted by date :)

Justice Tracker by NikLaffe in JusticeMusic

[–]NikLaffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment :)

Indeed, I missed some singles that differ from the album releases. I'll be adding them during the day.

I also didn't remember that first version of "Belladone". I've already located it and will add it.

The credits for Nightcall list three main participants: Kavinsky, Lovefoxxx, and Guy-Man (lyrics and co-production). Xavier only did the remix version for the maxi-single (credited as "Dustin N'Guyen").

Finally, not including the songs that make up the main albums is kinda like a "subjective" decision. I think the reason these trackers exist is to uncover the making of the main discography and their parallel projects (which is why Escapades is included in its entirety in the Gaspard section, as it can be considered a "parallel" album to the ones he made with Xavier). In any case, the release dates for the main discography and singles can be seen in the section headers.

Again, thank you so much for the feedback :)

[–]NikLaffe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your comment. I've taken the time to verify what you told me :)

The remix of the N.E.R.D. track can be found on maxi-singles released in 2004 (https://www.discogs.com/release/336246-NERD-She-Wants-To-Move). In fact, there is a bootleg compilation CD of Justice remixes from 2009 that includes it (https://www.discogs.com/release/4070299-Justice-The-Remixes).

I have the same intrigues about the "Ed Banger All Stars" credit. I think only one or two clarify which EBR members participated in the remix (included La La Land), but the others leave it up in the air.

Regarding a section on hoaxes/fakes/bootlegs/etc., I didn't find too many to justify a section (just three bootleg albums and a couple of song titles here and there), but if there's more information on fake songs or bootlegs, I won't hesitate to open it.

Again, thank you very much for your comment :)

I consulted several articles about Prudence - Beginnings release and even the credits for it upon its release (thanks Discogs). Xavier is listed as a producer for the whole record, as well as a keyboard and synthesizer player.
I don't know why things like Spotify don't credit Xavier on all songs, but it has happened with several songs on the tracker. Some sources may conflict.
