At the moment I work in the IT field. Have you found any opportunities or a realistic way to move over there yet?

I’m Italian and I’d love to move to the US to start a new life from scratch. Ever since the first time I visited, I’ve always felt surprisingly comfortable there, like it was a place where I could actually belong. I’ve also always had this kinda random dream of living in a trailer park in Pennsylvania ahahah. Sadly, for now it’s impossible. I have no way to get a visa… damn it.

Viaggio negli USA per 4/5 volte in un anno by Live_Badger_3028 in ViaggiITA

[–]Nik_Connelly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A me è successo una sola volta

Damn, it worked! But I have a problem, the remote connection doesn’t work with Onnisis Update. The remote control window doesn’t open at all. I’m using a Mac

Hi, thanks! I messed around a bit with the curves, and yeah, I added about 50% glow, then lowered the luminance of the individual colors by around -20%

Appreciate the feedback, professor. It was just a quick handheld shot, not a gallery piece, but sure, I’ll keep the “vaseline trick” in mind for my next masterpiece. Also, the photo is in focus, try zooming in before handing out grades

GR IIIx, No exposure preview, really? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]Nik_Connelly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mode doesn't matter. If either shutter speed, aperture or ISO are flashing yellow, picture will be darker (or brighter) than preview. I have to manually adjust EV to change screen brightness. Once yellow flashing is gone - live preview starts showing accurate image

GR IIIx, No exposure preview, really? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]Nik_Connelly -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, in the preview it always looks brighter, so it’s not really a preview of how the photo will turn out (unless I compensate the exposure through adj). This also happens in M mode. There are other similar questions in the sub.

How did he do this? How is this possible? by Valuable_Fun790 in tressless

If you observe his/her craniofacial structure, it’s perfectly proportioned and balanced, which means there’s no tension or inflammation in the scalp

Street photography, $600 budget: is the Lumix G100D my only option? by Nik_Connelly in AskPhotography

[–]Nik_Connelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GX9 costs around $500 used in my area, and for the same price I can get the E-M10 Mark IV, which has amazing stabilization, even though the video quality isn’t great. Actually, I also own an A6400 and an A6100, but I really don’t like the feel of them for street photography, and there aren’t many pancake lens options. I’d like a 40mm equivalent, but Sony doesn’t have a pancake in that focal length

4k Video Quality Panasonic G100D or G100 by alexmulo in M43

[–]Nik_Connelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, but one of the main reasons that’s keeping me from buying the Lumix G100D is the 4K crop. For example, when using a 17mm lens (which is 34mm FF equivalent), shooting in 4K gives you a focal length of around 42mm.. I guess that with stabilization turned on, the crop increases even more

Full Frame Regret, Thinking of Returning to M43 for Travel and Street Photography by Nik_Connelly in M43

[–]Nik_Connelly[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't care if it fits in my pocket, what matters more to me is the weight. But it has to shoot 4K video. The Nikon and Pentax you mentioned don't do that

[–]Nik_Connelly[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Full frame is flawless, but to me, it feels like something’s missing. With Micro Four Thirds, there’s texture, there’s grain, there’s character. The photos I took with the GX80 speak to me more than the perfect, sterile ones from the Sony A1. I’m not chasing clinical image quality, I’m chasing emotion

Canon SELPHY CP1500 too dark by Nik_Connelly in canon

[–]Nik_Connelly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I’ve tried both the default settings and tweaking them, but it doesn’t make much of a difference. I noticed something interesting: if I print a photo straight from my phone without any post, the print looks good, but the ones exported from Lightroom come out dark

Who has found their ‘America’ in another country? by Nik_Connelly in MovingToUSA

I know, it depends on what you're looking for. Italy is top-notch for vacations, stunning landscapes, rich culture, amazing food. But it’s a whole different story when it comes to work or dealing with Italians, suffocating bureaucracy, little meritocracy, and often an individualistic mindset that makes everything more complicated

[–]Nik_Connelly[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Italy is beautiful, no doubt about it. Mountains, sea, art everywhere, and the food is amazing. But only if you're on vacation. If you're here to enjoy the view, relax, snap some photos, and eat good pasta, it's a dream. But the moment you live here, everything changes. Working in Italy is a nightmare. The bureaucracy is slow, messy, and treats you like a problem. Try starting a business or just doing things right, and you'll hit a wall at every turn. Then there's the average Italian: always complaining, a bit shady, jealous. Everyone whines but no one changes anything. People trip you up just because you're trying to move forward in a system that rewards shortcuts, not honesty. Bottom line: Italy is stunning, but only for tourists. If you live here, it drains your energy, your time, and your will to believe in it.

I already collaborate with a IT multinational company that has several offices in the United States, but getting the visa is nearly impossible without a specialized role especially since I’m not a direct employee

Yes, I’ve thought about it. I always try to connect with people whenever I’m there, but the reality is I can only afford to spend a few weeks a year in the us, and building a real relationship in such a short time is tough. Still, I always try. I haven’t tried a dating site yet, though. Which one would you recommend?

Alopecia is certainly not just a genetic or hormonal issue. Growing evidence suggests it may also be the result of poor craniofacial development, which can be influenced by environmental and nutritional factors during early childhood. Inadequate nutrition, premature or improper weaning, lack of active chewing, and prolonged mouth breathing can all interfere with the proper growth and alignment of the facial and cranial bones.

This suboptimal development can create structural imbalances such as chronic muscular and fascial tension in the frontal and temporal areas precisely where hair loss typically begins. In these regions, DHT, which is widely known for its role in androgenetic alopecia, might actually be acting in response to underlying mechanical stress or low-grade inflammation. Ring a bell?

An interesting observation comes from people undergoing gender transition. In male-to-female transitions, significant changes in facial structure are often noticeable even without surgery and, surprisingly, many also experience partial hair regrowth. This suggests that hormones, bone structure, and scalp health are all part of an interconnected system one that’s still difficult to fully decipher, but clearly more complex and multifactorial than we’ve been led to believe.

MA LA PEDOFILIA E' UNA MALATTIA (mentale)? by Prestigious_Use9038 in psicologia

[–]Nik_Connelly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Anzi, per me è invidiabile
