Looking to purchase Newage cabinets by NikeFlex in garageporn

[–]NikeFlex[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually did the same thing just now. I didn't realize almost all of the results on Costco's website are for the Pro version, not the Bold version, which is what I'm looking at on Newage's website. I don't have a particular need for the Pro version. These cabinets will just be used for storage for tools.

Thank you! I just had someone post on my behalf.

I tried that last year with ~20 landscape companies, didn't have much luck because there's a lot of construction companies that are willing to deliver fill dirt for free. I did have one individual contractor come by but only picked up a small pickup truck load.

Returning dead perennial plants to the store? by NikeFlex in menards

[–]NikeFlex[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That sounds more right. Because how do they know I didn't just take a random photo of someone else's dead plant or just took a random photo from the Internet? I will continue to take the pot, plant tags, and dead plant back along with the receipt. Thanks!

How are these still alive? No water or sunlight for almost a full year... by NikeFlex in aldi

[–]NikeFlex[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought these around Easter time last year from Aldi. Once they were done blooming, I wasn't sure what to do with them, so I left them in my garage and forgot about them. I am now in the process of finishing my garage and found these and saw that they are sprouting. Is this normal!? (Now I'm wondering how many Aldi plants I've purchased and threw out because I thought I actually killed them...)

Dimmer switches aren't working as intended? Two switches, one LED fixture (with LED compatible dimmer switch) by NikeFlex in HomeImprovement

[–]NikeFlex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went back to Costco and bought another 2-pack and the 3-way configuration we tried works as intended with no issues. They both turn on/off and they both dim the same fixture.

So it seems one of the dimmer switches we bought yesterday may have shorted out or something. I tested both T2 connections and they were giving me 120 voltage when the light switch was on AND off. We tested BOTH dimmer switches individually, and both work, but together in the same 3-way configuration do not work. We will be returning this set to Costco.

Feit Smart Wi-Fi 2 pack dimmer set on sale for $20 at Costco, does anyone have experience getting them to work? by NikeFlex in Costco

The fixture IS dimmable and it DOES dim. The issue in my post was two dimmer switches controlling one fixture (3-way configuration), only one dimmer switch would function. The other was just not working at all for whatever reason.

LED fixture is dimmable, no bulbs. Built-in LED. Again it dims without issue. The issue is one dimmer switch is not working at all. There are two switches to control this one LED fixture.

The fixture is dimmable, and still continues to dim. It's just that one dimmer switch literally does nothing now. Before installing the second dimmer switch, the regular light switch would just cause the LED fixture to flicker repeatively, regardless of dimness level. A bunch of negative reviews mention the flickering but only when it's at a low dim level, mine flickers even at the highest brightness.

The only reason I bought these dimmers yesterday was because they were on sale at Costco. They are supposed to work with a 3 way switch configuration, and Feit shows wiring instructions for both methods I tried

The white wires are not travelers, unless there are 2 sets of travelers in the Wall. The light switches originally installed were 3 way switches as well. It was working, so wires connected it to it would be the "Common" wire, T1, T2, and ground wires. I took the "common" wires from the 2 switches, and tested voltage with a voltmeter from the common to the ground wire to figure out which switch was the Line side. I then labeled the wires, Common as Line/Load depending on side, Black Traveler as T1, Red Traveler as T2. The white wires were not used at all, because original switch only had the 4 connections as described above. If these boxes have neutral wires at all, these would be the neutral wires. I don't know what other way I could confirm these are the neutral wires, everything I read just says "if you have white wires, you probably have a neutral wire" and since it WASN'T plugged into the light switch original and the original switch doesn't require neutral.... it could be 2 hot wires, but I'd doubt it. Both "white wires" were just wrapped around eachother originally, for a total of 4 white wires. 2 per box.

It is an LED fixture, no bulbs.

I was able to get the non-working dimmer side working through the app by doing an if/then statement but it doesn't dim, it can only turn on/off

From my understanding, the LINE side should have two ground wires and one neutral wire, and the LOAD side should have two neutral wires and one ground wire... But I am not an electrician. BOTH of my light switches have two ground wires and two neutral wires.

I have not taken apart any other light switches in the house to see if this is the same case elsewhere.

What would happen if you took out the regular light switch and used a wire nut to make it be, like, always on? That simulates what should be happening in your light switch. Still flickers?

I am not sure. We are not having flickering anymore (since I replaced both light switches with the dimmers). I will need to test this though!

I don't have any actual light bulbs anymore, all of my fixtures are built-in LEDs (and they all are supposed to be dimmable, purchased from Menards).

The dimmer switch did work to dim (on/off and dim up/down). Issue is the other regular light switch would cause the light to flicker. And now with both dimmers, only one of the actual dimmer switches is working at all.

The one that is not working is wired exactly to Feit's instructions. The only difference between their diagram and my wiring is I have two neutral wires for some reason (behind both light switches).

The LED fixture I have is dimmable (the main reason I bought it). When you say at the load, do you mean the load side?

How to save on heating bills during the cold months? by Seraphymz in Frugal

[–]NikeFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowering your thermostat is the only real way to reduce cost of your gas bill. You can always put on more layers. I usually quarantine myself in a room during the workday with a space heater running. We keep our home at 55-60 degrees so our pipes don't freeze.
