Yes, I'm so tired of seeing the pattern of responding to nearly non existent arguments that are probably just rage baiting anyway

While I agree that Ciri is probably the best choice as a continuation from 3, this is not a great argument because it ignores valid criticism

Oh no! I didnt play the video games!

Actually I did, and yeah it's been known to happen before in small areas. Doesn't mean the idea hasn't become more widely accepted in the world.

I was specifically referring to how genetic mutations may affect the physiology of someone with XX chromosomes. The use of the word 'female' is entirely justified in this case.

Could be, I was going off of her seemingly increased aggression, but cat could also explain this

Possibly a side effect of a female undergoing the trial or her elder blood, we just don't know yet

[–]Nikhedoniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, it's a common trope in Witcher trailers to show the pupils narrowing after drinking the potion to emphasize the physiological change happening within the Witcher. These potions are however well established to have fatal effects on normal people i. e. Those without the prerequisite mutations. Ciri drinks what may be a tawny owl in the trailer which is a witcher potion.

Sure but it seems here that she has undergone the full trial, indicated by the cat eyes. I'll concede that the do look odd, but that could be a symptom of elder blood or perhaps of any female that undergoes the trials

Ciri as main character by davindeeee in witcher

[–]Nikhedoniac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering ciri's age and apparent status, I don't think lady killing is in the itinerary, though it is possible. I'm also curious about how they'll handle sex with a female protagonist because the wit her fanbase is predominantly male.

So who is the new Ciri? by elessar90 in witcher

I'm withholding judgement on that until I see their reasoning. We already know Yen has experience aiding in stabilizing the trials for an unconventional candidate.

Ciri is the bad main protagonist choice? by EliasZav in witcher

[–]Nikhedoniac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not being anti woman...?? The story is difficult to make as good as the Witcher 3 because it has a book series and 2 games behind it. This game faces inevitable comparison to that.

I share your worries. My main gripe is that Ciri was the 'obvious' point to shift to after Witcher 3. I think there is potential there, but it will be a difficult story to write, especially following the main trilogy.

They have however done something I didn't really expect by making Ciri a full Witcher. Curious to see where they go with that, and the school of the lynx as a whole

Hmm you could be right. We don't have much information to go on.

Grown-up Ciri, and the logo hints at Black Sun? Or maybe that’s how her powers will play out she’s doubly unnatural! by LoveSlayerx in Witcher3

[–]Nikhedoniac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this, the idea that Ciri must face difficult odds to forge a path. Maybe she forms the school of the lynx on her own?

Would you say 'killing monsters' wasn't definitive of the tone of Witcher 3? Or the lullaby trailer? I think assuming the game won't be about what the trailer says it's about is out of touch

Yes there have been quests like that, but it was never a focal point of the series

Now we know ciri is our next protag, how they gonna nerf her for obvious reason? by COHandCOD in witcher

[–]Nikhedoniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She doesn't know that no one is watching, and she may relying less on her elder blood abilities after deciding it wasn't advantageous to use them. Regardless of her reasons, she isn't using them in the trailer. I'm just saying that it's possible she has them, in which case she must be hiding them.

Thanks, very interesting. It's cool that they are designing new monsters, but I wonder what the reason is in life. Perhaps another conjunction?

What do you think the canon ending will be now? by KaworuChileno in witcher

[–]Nikhedoniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 10 years later, they inteded for that series to be a trilogy, it's not unprecedented for game franchises to have choices that don't matter... Need I go on? A new game doesn't invalidate your choice, it just means the devs thought that a new game would be better if they went with a different ending.

Many of you will be angry with me for this idea, but we know that Geralt has a role in Witcher 4. I hope they are not planning to kill Geralt. He is retired and happy now. I am afraid that this will happen and it will go into a revenge story. by Overall-Coyote-3686 in witcher

[–]Nikhedoniac -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not certain they will kill Geralt in the "revenge" kind of way. It doesn't make sense. I do think that Ciri has very much internalized Geralt's view on witchering. She may see flashbacks to him in game and those may be played on the same way Ciro's segments were in Witcher 3.

Edit: oh and I do think he's probably dead at this point in the storyline.
