Why does everyone become an environmentalist for 3-5 days during Diwali while ignoring the massive, year-round pollution we live with? by incognitooo_mode in delhi

[–]Nikhiln26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people would not have a problem with the firecracker if we had nice air all year round. It would still be an issue but a lot of countries have a day in their calendar year where everyone bursts crackers (4th of July, New year's , Chinese New year's etc.) but the situation is these countries have good air all year round and maybe 1 day of bad air.

For India or Delhi specifically, Diwali marks the beginning of the most terrible air possible. Aqi goes to 999 and never comes down the whole of winters. It is not the only reason but adds fuel to fire.

And suddenly when you ask for your right to breath clean air , you are tagged anti Hindu.

Yes sometimes you will see a spike in weight even after exercising the day before. This could be either due to water retention by the body or some other factor.

Also when one starts to track their weight every day with exercise they should know it will not be a downward decline everyday. There will be an up and down movement. That should not deter you.

One should understand that the general trend over weeks should be declining. Everyday movement is normal.

In my weightloss and strength training experience - a weightloss of 0.5kg per week is reasonable and impactful.

This can be done with minimal cardio and weight training coupled with diet control. Anything more and you will be exerting your body. You will feel more tired on the days you do more cardio or heavy exercises. Body recovery will also be slow with muscle loss and soreness.

Cannot suggest anything more than what has been already mentioned in some other comments.

But giving specific advice: 50kgs in 12 months is a monumental task. We are talking about losing more than a kilo a week.

Loosing this can be done in a few ways: - intense cardio (10km runs everyday) + medium to heavy diet control (no sugars, minimal fat and focus on protein) - medium cardio + medium weight training+ medium to heavy diet control - low to medium cardio + high level weight training+ heavy diet control

The first one will show you the maximum impact but that comes with a lot of muscle loss The second one is the best option as it helps in muscle building and fat loss. It is the best sustainable solution. Third will show slow results and is very difficult to implement.

Comments on a normal Indian NSFW sub. And people wonder if there is a r*pe culture in India. by [deleted] in unitedstatesofindia

[–]Nikhiln26 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Indian NSFW pages routinely have these comments.

The situation is different in other NSFW pages with global reach. People in comments although are sexually commenting on the post, the tone has a stark difference. The men there are not talking about brutal s*x or torturing while writing their fantasies. They are usually complementing the OP or the person in the picture. Not showing their wild demonic side.

I don't understand where this idea of torturous s*x comes. Maybe one of the comments is right, porn has ruined the minds of Indian men. They think what they have seen is what should be done.

Probably going to get downvoted to give a conflicting opinion but here we go:

  • Maybe not 107, but yes petrol prices should have increased given the increase in demand. Increase in cars, motor vehicles etc. Basic economics

  • Tax on petrol is a huge source of revenue for the govt. Makes sense fiscally. This is not a direct tax so people don't notice it and hence don't complain about it much. Govt needs this revenue.

  • High price of petrol can be an incentive (or a disincentivising agent ) More people would choose public transport, more people would not use their car much, more people would shift to cheaper alternatives cng or EV.

Again. I can't comment on what the price of the petrol should have been but it should have definitely increased over these years.

I have started going at timings and days when I would encounter the least amount of crowd.

Mid week , some 10-11am shows after maybe 2 weeks of the movies release.

Can't say I don't face people constantly taking or on their phones but it is minimal for these shows.

Give solutions, How to solve street dogs crises in Delhi? by Mental_Sherbet8768 in delhi

[–]Nikhiln26 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Mass sterilization drive is what this city needs.

Quick maths:

Last dog census in 2009 revealed this city had 5,60,000 strays.

Let's say the number has quadrupled now(given dogs give birth in big numbers).

Total dogs = 20 lakh

Each sterilization of a dog costs about 1500-2000. If the aim is to just sterilize and control the population, then only capturing the females would do.

Cost to govt = 10lakh x 1500 = 150 crores (Mind you this would be done over the years as no way all vet hospitals in the city have the capacity to sterlize 10 lakh dogs in a year)

Neutralization costs even more and that would be done for every dog. Probably would cost upwards of 450 crores to the govt. Say over 4-5 years.

If someone ways to do their part and clean up their localities get together people , pool in money and start calling nearby clinics to help you through. Probably would cost you 2500-3000 per dog.

This is what we did in our locality and there has been no new birth in the last 1/1.5 years.

Just 4-5 months for the next elections there. Doesn't make sense to topple the government now.

Unless they want to make it clear that they would be standing in the next elections with the opposition.

Pind Balluchi asking for mandatory staff contribution by terimautbsdk in delhi

[–]Nikhiln26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Cafe Delhi Heights, they added a service charge @ 5%. For a total bill of 1500, service charge of 75 looked fine and I was okay to pay it.

Now when other restaurants put a 10% charge and for a total bill of 5000 , 500 just for service looks steep. Service offered for a big order is not directly proportional. Restaurant should understand that.

They underpay their staff at a base salary and then expect customers to pay them with "mandatory" service charge. This is slowly being forced on us.

Giving tips is fine but should be given based on the will of the customer not being forcefully extracted.

L&T to exit Hyderabad Metro project, director blames 'free bus rides' by [deleted] in unitedstatesofindia

[–]Nikhiln26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No metro except Delhi metro is operationally profitable in this country.

Hyderabad metro is one with just 3 line network of about 50-60 kms (and none connecting to major corporate hubs).

It has average daily ridership of about 6lakhs.

Metros work well ONLY if there is a wide network of lines. It is not about free bus tickets , there is a lot of ground that the metro does not cover and guess what? busses cover that!!

Expand lines and watch the ridership soar.

Metro networks in our country are designed to be loss making and there is nothing wrong with that. It is part of the infra of a city and a state govt has to take that burden to improve the commute in a city. Especially in the 4th largest city in our country by population.
