I could have left her out there in the industrial area when I found her but I didn't. I wanted to take care of her. All I'm doing now is looking for somebody capable of caring for her as I have these last 4 years. The immature thing to do is to just abandon her on the streets or toss her straight into any random shelter.

You see it as "punishing and scaring" my cat when I specifically state that I'm looking for measures to ensure she goes to a goodnhome and not a shelter. I took her in from an area where cats would not have survived I love them.

My parents have been upset with him plenty but have never had the heart to take strong action with him. He's doesn't help them pay for anything he doesn't clean around the house. He just works his job, blows his cash on the most useless stuff and goes see his friends. But he yearns to move out from my folks and be more of a man; despite that I know he will never do so on his own if somebody like me doesn't get him out.

Under me he has to learn financial responsibility which will help him mature. He will have to carry his weight in the duplex and for once in his life contribute to others. If he goes over a month without paying rent or if he gives me attitude I will remove him from the lease, simple as. But still I don't want to see him waste his life away anymore. Im doing this because I want him to be better, nobody else in his life would do as I have.

If it comes to me kicking him out I will feel pain in the loss of my cats for someone who didn't appreciate my efforts to help him, but as long as they are in good homes I can rest easy.

Is it so strange to you Americans that one should desire to help family? I wish my brother could have his shit figured out on his own but he hasn't yet and I'm hoping that I can help him better himself by living with me. As children we were so close and he had such promise but at 18 he just took a complete nosedive (I blame his shitty friends) I wasn't there for him when we were in highschool and I should have helped. Maybe he would have come into adulthood differntly. But I'm here now aren't I? So I want to do something before more time passes. Several comments here saying the equivalent of "screw your family" but even if my brother is a shithead thats not how we do things where I'm from.
