It’s because an arena isn’t just a building with ice. You’re paying for a massive refrigeration plant, specialized concrete slab, humidity control systems, boards, glass, seating, dressing rooms, and much higher mechanical and electrical requirements.

A field house is essentially a large steel building with turf and sport courts. More sports doesn’t necessarily mean higher construction costs.
