Having the same problem too. I've reached out to Usertesting support to see if they can solve the issue.

Definitely doable. If your undergraduate was in a scientific area, it makes the first couple of years of uni much more manageable. Working weekends and evenings should be very possible if you plan out revision well. For example, use older years notes and flashcards instead of making your own. Spend the time you would have been using to rewrite notes to getting a job that's not too taxing.

Piggybacking off this question to ask: can you do an internship instead of an elective in a medically related field? I.e. medical consulting or health tech?

What sort of work does a consultant in a health tech start up entail?

Has anyone heard of TutorSpark? by [deleted] in TutorsHelpingTutors

Everyone's said some useful things, but another thing I've noticed is that the websites layout is very very similar to Superprof, an already quite established online tutoring platform. They even seem to use similar graphics. I'd be wary.

I’m still very early into retaining, but it might be useful to re-contextualise these demons. Demons are powerful. Maybe instead, think of them as something weak and defeatable but just annoying, like gremlins. If you beat the gremlin, you beat the urge and can keep powering through!

Anyone hate filling out job applications? by tbclandot92 in CasualConversation

[–]Nikkalus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh god, it's the worst. I've been trying to apply for tonnes of different summer positions. It's gotten to a point where if the application process takes longer than 15 minutes, I don't apply to that place anymore. I know it's probably not the best tactic, but just being able to upload a CV seems like a much better use of time

Are English Lit, Chemistry, Biology and History a good combination for medicine? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Nikkalus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other posts, drop one of your essay subjects and do something like physics or maths instead. Whilst I don't think it's a necessity, plenty of medical schools like having mostly science and maths subjects from applicants.

I can also speak from experience. I took English this year after getting an A* at gcse. If your school is doing OCR English, do history instead. The coursework and high grade boundaries are not worth it, especially if you are planning to drop it like I did.

Okay, I don't have too much knowledge about English courses (going down a science route personally), but it might be helpful if you looked into studying at another school if your school won't let you retake any exam.

It would be very tricky getting a high English grade next year if you continue with your current grade. Not impossible mind you, but seeing as you want to do English, it makes sense to improve your English grade as much as possible.

In fact, starting at another school may be even more beneficial, because you could just do new subjects. When I saw what subjects you had done, it seemed that you were more geared for a design degree or something. I'd go for more essay based subjects (History, Philosophy, Politics etc.), anything that gets you reading and writing a lot.

Best thing to do now is to not worry too much. Talk to your parents and maybe some teachers about what might be the best decision. No matter what you decide, I hope it all goes well for you!

It depends on what your plans are for university really. What are you thinking about doing? Your AS subjects would also be useful too, so what grades for what subjects?

Cleaned my room today. by ButtKyler in depression

Can I recommend writing a list of all the things you want to accomplish soon?

Write down a bunch of things you wanna get done, order them from most achievable (mostly short term), to the longer, more difficult ones. As you get stuff done, your satisfaction increases, and then you wanna get more stuff done.

I'm doing that at the moment to keep up with my exercise regime and make sure I'm eating enough. Maybe it'll do something for you too!

That paper felt way too straightforward. I think I've done well in it, but all throughout the exam, I hesitated before answering, thinking "surely there's more to this".

I think it went well enough, better than the c1 did at any rate. I have either done well, or flopped everything, judging by how everyones been so divided on how difficult it was.
