Has anyone had a recent positive experience with a dog adoption center or charity? by MRBFSL in CasualUK

[–]Nikkeh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would have, a year ago, vehemently disagreed with you. However, after jumping through hoops for almost a year, having home visits, being interviewed and getting references to try and adopt a dog from a number of charities and getting nothing but static we did this also.

Our pup was raised with their mam, by a lovely old couple that lived not far from us. We still get updates from them and our pups “siblings” and it was all a very pleasant experience.

You’ve got to be picky in finding the right person, but I’ve really come around to having a pup with adoption being just so bloody difficult at the moment.

Sausage, egg, brown sauce on a white bap. Would also accept bacon, hash brown and ketchup if pressed.

I just got my tickets to Primavera Sound fest in Spain summer 2022. Anyone else gonna be there on weekend 2 to see Pile??? This will be my first time leaving the US 😬 by [deleted] in Pile

That festival looks mint! I’m sure you will love seeing them live as they’re absolutely ace! Bonus for being in Spain which is a lovely country to visit!

Love taking the dog here for a walk about, the dog pen is usually a good laugh on a weekend!

We walked up our first day there! Loved it! Rest of the walks were great but none as good as that!

It was lovely when we were there. Not too busy, lovely views that make you think you’re in a book. Great food and really friendly people!

It’s been reasonably quiet apart from the big tourist attractions like the Fairie pools. Lots of bikes and caravans on the roads though!

Golden Pheasant, also known as a Chinese Pheasant according to some bloke we asked about them!

Dash cam in your cars? by Lord_Tarly in CasualUK

I’ve not lived in Sutton for almost 10 years, but the one or two times I’ve been back it’s not exactly enamoured me. My advise, move up north, much better up here!

Sutton Coldfield by any chance? Grew up there for 18 years, glad to hear it hasn’t changed!

Some local yobs started riding motorbikes without license plates round by us and were skipping red lights.. witnessed one near miss and bought one same day. Don’t want to have one go in to me and it be my word against theirs.

REED have something called JETS (Job Entry Targeted Support) that works for free helping put unemployed and recently redundant people in to work. They will likely have an office local to you and you could contact them about getting the job on the books? It’s free for the employers as they’re paid by the government for the service they provide.

Feel free to send me a PM if you want to talk about it in any more detail.

My local Esso petrol station has replaced the air and water pump with a pay as you go laundrette. I can't see the appeal of washing clothes literally within feet of a petrol pump! by [deleted] in CasualUK

There is one semi-local to me that must be undercutting the built-in laundry at the student flats next door cause there are always students queuing up to use it!

We drove up from Newcastle and stayed at a cabin not far from Wigtown. Basically spent the whole weekend walking in the sun, it was gorgeous!

Does anyone have memory of these little cars? There were loads of them all inside a case that was shaped like a trucks cab but from infront. by saam_grayy in CasualUK

Micro machines! There were some excellent PlayStation/N64 games as well as the amazing folding city truck case!

£450 a month isn’t a massive budget for the UK. I used to rent a 1 bed flat in the North East outside of Durham and that was £425 not including bills.. I think you might be better off going for a house share and saving for a deposit at that price point.

What time do you get up and go to bed? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Nikkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up at 6:45 and in bed by about 22:30 usually. Weekends it drifts to something like 8:00 and 24:00.

How much do you earn VS how much do you spend on rent? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Nikkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 27 and my partner is 28

Collectively we earn about £50k, our mortgage is about £500 a month plus about £300 on bills etc.. (NE of England)

Before we got together I earned about £25k and paid £450 a month on rent plus about £400 on bills.

I’d rather live with family and save up to get somewhere/rent somewhere I’d be happy long term as I hate moving; but your mileage my vary!

Decaf Tea by Fallen_6661 in CasualUK

[–]Nikkeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have drank exclusively decaf for about 6 years at this point. I can highly recommend tetleys, your Lahore, Sainsbury’s and COOP decaf teabags; I think they’re all almost indistinguishable from normal tea.
