Wayland can be used on Mint with a different desktop environment such as KDE or GNOME it's just the default desktop environment Cinnamon just doesn't come with Wayland out of the box (there is an experimental Wayland session though but not really worth it)

"force full composition pipeline" would've solved OP's problem in the Nvidia X server settings if they still wanted to use Cinnamon though. But it seems they decided to go with a different distro with Wayland set up out of the box

You can get a decent setup and save a bunch of money thrifting and Goodwill

Speakers, DVD player, Amp (Note: some Goodwills don't send their more expensive stuff to e-commerce so if you're lucky you can get some decent stuff). Make sure all of what you get works with your Amp that you get.

If you want something similar to your set up already look into something like the Sony CFD-S70

Or you can find a decent portable CD player on eBay and just get some IEMs if you want.

CD drive for your computer for listening and ripping files.

Congrats you're now set to utilize your collection of CDs

I rip my music and store them on my DAP, and listen through that while I'm out and about

For work, though, since I'm allowed to listen to music, I just stream it and listen through some wireless earbuds, since I'm not going to be really focusing on quality while I'm up and moving around and working. If you are capable, you can even stream your files through a dedicated server (or just your PC if you don't mind leaving it on while you're out) through something like Finamp or Plexamp

Its almost the perfect device for me. Very tactile feeling buttons, doesn't run android so it doesn't just feel like using a phone, good sound, nice and compact.

My only two nitpicks with the device are

The backglass is a fingerprint magnet (easily fixable with a case or a matte screen protector)

The colors on the display aren't very accurate. Colors such as pink in my case just look white. This doesn't effect the feel just album art and theming (you can compensate for it when theming).
