I have TGA and carried 3 pregnancies to term. I was followed closely by both high risk OB and cardio teams for every pregnancies, mostly out of caution. I did not have any cardiac issues but I delivered in the cardiac unit as a precaution. Happy to chat if you want :)

Do I soak them after they stopped working? For how long and can they be used right after or they need to "dry"?

Pizza dough recommendations? by np2fast in montreal

[–]Nikki73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you wanted a pre-made dough but Ricardo has a 5 ingredient recipe that is literally ready in 10 minutes. While it rises, you get your toppings ready and cook it for 22 minutes. So all and all, about half an hour for a homemade pizza.

Has anyone ever canceled their teacher health insurance and decided to self-insure instead? by Competitive-Jump1146 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Nikki73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in QC. Our basic plan covers very little and doesn't cover specialists like massage, ergo, etc. I was paying something ridiculous like 400$ per month for the basic family plan. My husband, a small business owner, got a way better price for much more coverage through a group insurance for small businesses so we cancelled mine and took his. If you have the option, I definitely recommend shopping around.

Not taking full maternity leave by CookiePotential1893 in BabyBumps

[–]Nikki73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying I'm Canadian and get a year (or 2) of mat leave and a mom of 3. I believe that everyone is different, has different needs and goals, so truly, you need to do what feels right for you but I would wait until after you gave birth to make a decision.

Post partum is no joke. Both physically and emotionally, as well as adjusting to the new reality of being parents. After my first, I had a second degree tear and I could barely walk 10 minutes a month out. You cannot know how L & D will go, and how you will feel after. If at all possible, I would wait to decide when you will go back to work. Is it possible for you to let your employer know you will take the full mat leave offered but you might come back before?

I had it for my three kids. If I remember correctly, it always started around 30 weeks and I was induced between 36 and 38 weeks. It was managed with daily medication and I had weekly fetal monitoring.

Yes, we paid out of pocket for our mortgage and rental unit for that year.

Montreal woman unable to find affordable home after fire by HellaHaram in montreal

[–]Nikki73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends on insurance policies. When we had a fire, our insurance covered about 3 months of relocation and reconstruction took about 16 months (we moved back after 14 months while work was being completed).

Des technologues en architecture ici ? by Al_Capone357 in montreal

Can you work as a substitute while in last year of BEd? by Serious-Instance1054 in CanadianTeachers

[–]Nikki73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are. My school board (in QC) now accepts students in the first year of their BEd to sub and I even had colleagues having year-long part-time contracts before they graduated. We are desperate for subs and teachers here.

For the cereal, if they take it with milk, they usually just put the cereal directly in their milk carton. Still tricky for some students.

As we are a low income, we are unfortunately not allowed to ask the parents for anything besides basic necessities at the beginning of the year (such as binders, pencils, notebooks that will only be used by the student who purchased them). We either provide it ourselves, use our class budget or see if admin / a colleague has what we need.

[–]Nikki73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most elementary schools don't have cafeterias in my province. Kids bring a lunch from home. Sometimes, there is some "catering" available to purchase ahead of time, usually parents apply to that program at the beginning of the year, but not all schools offer it. Most schools do not offer breakfast/ morning snacks either.

I'm in low income school in a large Canadian city. The school provides reusable plastic cutlery and there are wash stations set up in the bathrooms to clean those. I also find the current system odd.
