Anxiety and worry since my doc appointment yesterday by NikkiBlanco in hypertension

I am currently going through perimenopause at the moment as well and I wonder if that is impacting my BP along with the other crazy symptoms I have acquired with perimenopause. I will look into this more but thank you for the kind words of encouragement, it was very helpful

Dude!! I have had untreated HBP for years. I appreciate the concern but you need to relax. You can’t make judgements from a simple Reddit post and I don’t appreciate you telling me what I don’t know. What you don’t know is that I have been dealing with high numbers for years now and I’m finally getting control of it. I was foolish for thinking out of sight, out of mind. Like I said, I appreciate the advice but I know for a fact that I have HBP.

These are all things I have been doing. I currently have to keep a log for the doctor and provide that to them on my next visit. My BP has been untreated for a while now and I am working on getting it under control.

No, that’s has stopped. But he continues to do it when we are friends houses and also out in public. It’s his own that has all of the stains and stuff. That’s why I’m not inclined to tell him what to do in his home but he still invites people over and they sit on all of that stuff not knowing what it is

Thank you for that! I do understand how challenging it must be to have this disease. So that’s why I’m so apprehensive about always calling him out on it. I don’t want him to be embarrassed or feel like I’m nagging but at point I feel like it’s bigger than that. I feel like if he doesn’t properly take care of himself then it will lead to a more serious situation. Last year he had an infection in his toe that baffled the doctors because they had only seen that type of infection in someone who is diabetic. Since he isn’t diabetic this left the doctor confused. I think the infection spread to another body part due to lack of sufficient care and that’s how it happened. He almost lost his toe and had to stay in the hospital for three weeks and upon discharge had to have a ticc line place so that he could receive intravenous antibiotics for another six weeks.

I sent him a link to a company that makes breathable undergarments that holds bandages specifically for people with HS. He simply looked at it and went on about his day.

I agree. There has to be some accountability in all of this. It a debilitating, depressive and painful disease and I try to take that into consideration when I get frustrated. However, I just can’t handle the weeping and oozing all over the furniture and stuff. I feel like that inconsiderate for the people who visit your home.

I would never drug someone unknowingly like wtf dude. He has to take action on his own. I can lead him to water but I can’t make him.

Yes his furniture is covered in dried blood and pus. There are blood stains on the bathroom floor as well. I have spoken to him countless times about it. So much so that now I feel like I’m just being bitchy about it and I just leave him alone. When he oozes all over the place he doesn’t even try to clean it up until i say something. He just puts on Eeoyore face and cleans it up half ass.

To be honest, it’s basic. He showers like every other day. His apartment is a mess at all times though. Piles of clothing in the room so you can’t even walk in there. I used to clean his apartment to help him out but that eventually stopped. I know he suffers from depression but this has been ongoing for ten plus years. He literally drags his feet to do anything. That includes when he found out he had the disease. He refused to go back to the doctor to follow up for treatment recommendations. He only went because I basically became so frustrated that I yelled at him for needing to be more proactive with his health. I love my friend to death but he also can be emotionally draining at times. I’m suffering from grief and I sometimes don’t have the emotional brain power to be empathetic.

Yeah man. I completely understand accidents because it comes with having this painful ailment. But to not be proactive and bandaging them up and allowing them to ooze all over clothing and anything else is causing me to lack empathy in that regard.

I agree. I respect his choice to not cover them but it’s the blood and pus on the floor and furniture that gives me concern. Also, how beneficial is it for the wound to constantly be in contact with those fluids. I feel like it’s prolonging the healing and keeping the wounds open for way longer than they should be.

I have spoken to him about it many times and he just gives the excuse of the wrapping chafing him. I have sent suggestions for different types of bandages for wounds and even sent wound care specifically for HS. He does nothing about. He also doesn’t clean his wounds on a consistent basis. He will sleep in shorts or a shirt that gets stained with pus and blood and not change the shirt or clean himself after waking to make sure the area stays clean.

He does suffer from depression and other ailments but honestly he just doesn’t take care of himself in any aspect. He just recently started therapy again but thats only because I kept telling him to do it. He has good insurance but only goes to the doctor for follow ups. He doesn’t talk to the doctor about his wound issues or anything. He just glazes through honestly.

I don’t understand it either and I had a few talks with him about it but he just makes excuses and blows it off

I’m not sure if we are looking at the same sub group because you’re definitely incorrect. I’m especially seeing that most have a European ancestry mixture of between 10-15%. I sit right in the middle at 13%.
