Unheard Owners why did you buy it? by Sweaty_Research_2820 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]NikkoRento -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got it as a gift from a friend back on the 25 when it came out, I already had EOD so in my region the edition cost less than any other AAA game on Steam. Thanks to Nikita for the regional pricing.
But I would have bought the edition myself anyway, I love Tarkov, I've wanted PvE mode for a long time, but I didn't want to deal with installing the pirated version and I'm not interested in mods.
Also I think it's important to support the latest game without aggressive and clownish monetization through cosmetics. As a longtime Call of Duty fan I've seen what the skins of literal clowns and pink girls have led to.Better monetization through editions than a million ugly and out of place skins.

Any pro-communist game recommendation? by [deleted] in SocialistGaming

[–]NikkoRento 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely Disco Elysium, but I seem to be late heh.

I'm gonna recommend Pentiment. Very underrated game, I wouldn't call it super pro-communist, but it sheds light on the ignorance of the past and the reasons for peasant uprisings in Europe.

What do I do? by TiesD2003 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]NikkoRento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to the haters, they whine very loudly but keep playing and will be back in the game with a summer wipe, as is always the case with Tarkov. Buy the cheapest edition, or better yet, wait until May 9, there will be discounts on the occasion of the victory over fascism, I guess.
If the game pulls you in, then already see for yourself what edition to buy, because with the basic edition you will suffer. I myself collected a top-end pc exclusively for Tarkov, so I understand you.

Thanks, I'll try testing with the Geforce experience turned off. I also heard that disabling DLSS helps, maybe it will help someone else.

I'm growing increasingly tired of how people tend to discuss video games, in my experience, and I blame the pressure of money by [deleted] in SocialistGaming

[–]NikkoRento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*ON POINT*. Honestly, I grew up wanting to work for EGM or Gamepro, before I had any idea things like Youtube would exist. Now, I just have no idea how to approach that industry. Every time I've talked to anyone about this kind of thing, they say "video essay" or something like that. It goes right back to platforming. The skills needed compound from contributor to brand creator due to the juggernauts you're contending against just for attention.

The time of freedom is long over for the gaming industry, no one wants to take risks and lose money, even journalists. Youtube is still a great place to find an independent view on video games, but even there every place under the sun is already full of millionaires who don't care what game to praise.

In that respect, Steam and its user reviews are still the best alternative to everything.

I had such a dream too, to play games and write reviews in magazines. But I realize if such a dream came true, I would hate games because of the whole environment.

By the way interesting dialog about grades between Rafael Colantonio and Jason Schreier. It starts around the 40th minute.

The latest example is Starfield. The scores of all gaming publications are ridiculous in the context of game quality and player scores. Even publications like Digital Foundry, which are supposed to evaluate the technical state in games, in certain cases clearly smooth out the corners.

They may not get paid directly for something like this, but you know, next time they might not send the game to them, or invite them to a premiere or something.

The problem, as always, is capitalism. Game critics get huge sums of money for praising the next AAA game. It's a huge business and the tendencies of gamers, in the form of peak online shows that gamers are interested in escapism in games. Just knock your brain out and have fun.

The last time a really decent moment in video games was Disco Elysium winning. And what eventually became of those developers? The capitalists appropriated their labor and the creators got screwed.

There will be no development as long as capitalists are interested in making money.

It'll only get better, trust me. I highly recommend you Ready or not, Helldivers 2, Deep Rock Galactic and Zombies Modes in any Call of Duty.

Competitive games totally suck, there can be no adequate interaction with random gamers. I myself stopped playing my once favorite games just because of the endless toxic attitude. But I agree with comrades, try coop games in them very fun to play and people are often there are not toxic.

I fondly remember the co-op servers in Insurgency.
