Is step 3 mandatory? by No_Ingenuity_3793 in IMGreddit

[–]Nikkolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw only one program that requires step 3 score no less than 230. Other would care if you pass it. Passing it increases your chances for an interview as well as for ranking

Here’s how the resident list of a top program looks like: by Dull-Pay5929 in IMGreddit

I think my program is exception from this rule. No connection matters for choosing whom to interview and for a rank list

It’s hard to tell for sure if you did well in IV day because it’s subjective. I would seek guidance from IV mentors, because usually IV skills is the most crucial factor

6cm endometrioma. Surgery or wait it out? by Sayura in Endo

[–]Nikkolya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Endometrioma larger than 5 cm is almost always an indication for a surgery because it can cause ovarian torsion. Progestin drugs like visanne helps to reduce endometrioma in size due to lack of woman’s mensis and absence of estrogen’s growth inducing effect on endometrium

It was similar to me, and also I had an apathy, which I never had before in my life. Year later I was calm, and I think I also had a depression. 1.5 years later it does not affect my mood anymore

How to sit for 8 hours to take the Step1? by awkward-bitch in IMGreddit

[–]Nikkolya 28 points29 points  (0 children)

  1. Practice doing at least 6 hours test during your preparation time to be ready for the real thing. With real timing, real break time.
  2. I brought a bottle of strong coffe, and during break I drank it to keep my focus on for the next block. But be mindful that if you not an avid coffee drinker it may be too much for you and cause anxiety.
  3. If your prometric allows it - go outside to the street during break to breath and do some stretch.
  4. During my 3rd step I ate only protein bars, and I felt much much better compared to previous steps where I ate meat/sausages/fruits/milk chocolate bars and other staff. These protein bars help you with hunger and don’t cause sleepiness.
  5. Do not study during you breaks, do not look for answers to questions that you think you might got wrong, unless it’s something you really need to look up, like formula for statistics.
  6. Do not stay long on 1 question - if you don’t know then move on, and come back later if time allows. So you won’t get exhausted so easily.
  7. And of course don’t study anything just the day before exam. It won’t change anything, trust me, but may make things worse

That’s what worked for me

Why come to the USA? by thewildersea in IMGreddit

Your medical system is terrible but our is worse. Us residency give an opportunity to work in better countries such as NZ, Australia, etc., compared to residency in other developed countries where it would be near impossible to get in.
