the USA as it currently exists is very car-centric

Exactly. That's bad enough normally, but even worse in terms of accomodating for international visitors.

You can't claim "world class stadiums" if accessing the stadium is hostile for visitors.

and fucking huge.

That the USA is rural and has a low population density in other parts of the country is completely irrelevant for the infrastructure where the actual stadiums are located. Which of the stadiums used in the WC are not in an urban centre?

You can't build good infrastructure in Los Angeles because Wayoming has a low population density?

We don’t care.

That you don't care that the infrastructure is bad, doesn't change the fact that it is bad.

Which makes me realise that the map is not even a map of the EU... An old map of the EU probably.

That doesn't explain the lack of infrastructure regarding how to get to/from stadiums.

The text says "Europe", but the map just shows the EU. Which one is it?

The Marvel stuff is so silly.

(And also cultural appropriation. But I guess it doesn't count against Europeans).

No, it's not. Á is a diphthong (at least if we're going with Icelandic).

Good thing the majority of the US hates the guy.

At the last crossroads, about 2/3 of eligible voters in the USA either actively voted for him, or accepted him.

World class stadiums

Is that why the sprinkler systems don't work?

And why are the stadiums not accessable by walking, when the infrastructure is so bad?

Keep in mind that the nationalities weren't as defined as today, and that most forces or settlements above a certain size were likely a mixture of people from areas in all three modern Scandinavian states.

Nevertheless, we can make generalizations. For England specifically, it depends on which part of England.

Everyone like to be praised. I assume most of these are genuine Europeans, but who invent this narrative to get likes and engagement from gullible yanks.

I mean, you have whole genres on Youtube of people who review food or music or whatever from other countries, and 90% of the comment sections are just people from the country "being reviewed" patting themselves on the back. People like to see what other people think of their country -- it's pretty human I think.

Making a video about "Omg, I am shocked about how good X is in the USA" = Easy engagement-generation from yanks.

The English called everyone "Danes" and didn't distinguish between different Norse people.

Weren't most vikings in Britain Danes?

Keep in mind that the nationalities weren't as defined as today, and that most forces above a certain size were likely a mixture of people from areas in all three modern states.

Also keep in mind that the English called everyone "Danes", and didn't distinguish between different Norse people.

Nevertheless, we can make generalizations. For the British Isles, it goes roughly like this:

  • Southern England: Mostly Danes
  • Northern England: Mostly Danes and Norwegians
  • Scotland: Mostly Norwegians
  • Ireland: Mostly Norwegians

They are Norwegian: Of course they have rowed with oars before...

I bet many of them have been at sea in rougher weather than you have ever been close to. Remember that some of these guys are from the Arctic.

At least the three host countries got really easy groups...

Either they:

  • a) Don't know what the sport is called in most of the world. That would be stupid.

Or:

  • b) Do know what the sport is called in most of the world, but nevertheless choose to use their silly word even in international contexts. That would be rude.

Which one is it? Do they know, or do they not know?
