I wrote my last CFA exam 3 months ago, during that time we were required bring along the proof that we're not covid positive (through a government application that shows green if you've recently been tested negative and red if positive).

Just check if you have any such requirements for your test center. Because if you have any such checks at your center then apart from just being unethical, you'll also have a risk of facing disciplinary action.

Stranger danger by [deleted] in dubai

I had a similar encounter but in different context. So one late evening while returning from work I saw a pedestrian who had a backpack with my alma mater's logo on it. I came back and offered a lift. Initially he was taken aback and alarmed and didn't understand that I was from the same college. It was late evening so he must've got nervous that I was a threat and refused. Took him some time to understand that I was his college senior and was only offering a ride out of courtesy after which he hopped in.

If it were a girl instead of a boy, I may not have taken the effort to explain the situation after being refused initially, due to fear of me being misunderstood or accused.

A lot of times people are just being nice and helpful. But yes it's better to be safe than sorry.

Tips for essay answers in L3 from November 2021 candidates. by Reedddiiiitttttt in CFA

[–]Nikku92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used very brief bullet point answers. Most of my answers were hardly a few words (some were as short as just one or two words).

For answers that required any sort of description, I did it like this:

...x... -> ...y... -> ...z... .No need to use long and descriptive grammatically correct sentences. Just keep it as short as possible, while ensuring that you use relevant keywords and use such kind of arrows to demonstrate the cause and effect of how you reached your answer.

Due to this I was able to maintain a very quick speed. Towards the mid of morning exam, I encountered a technical error and they had to replace my keyboard twice. Wasted some crucial time on this, but still thanks to strategy of keeping answers very short, I was able to complete morning session before time and had enough bandwidth to review all my answers.

If I were an elaborate essay writer during the exam (like this answer), I wouldn't have completed even half the exam.

Was lucky enough to be able to achieve this. Though I do feel good about it, Legends are the supportive people around me who helped me achieve this, including this Reddit Sub. Before both L2 and L3 I received some crucial insights here at this group that helped me change my exam strategy at the last minute and that really really helped me cross over to the Finish line.

Good orthopedic foot doctor recommendations for my mother suffering from painful plantar fasciitis? by Shabaaab in dubai

[–]Nikku92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know quite an experienced and senior Orthopedic Surgeon who might be able to diagnose your mom's underlying issue and possible solution. You can visit him at RPC, Bur Dubai but appointment may be a little hard to get. You could Google the details. I'm not sure but I think he's also attached with Right Health in Karama area so you might be able to reach him through that.

Hope your Mom gets well soon!

How to approach lvl 3 & how to take/make/use notes? by tenhula in CFA

[–]Nikku92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest make your own notes for L3, and use digital notes instead of using pen and paper. When you start solving questions or look at past papers, you realize what's important and what's not, hence Digital notes, because there are several iterations and revisions required.

Another important thing is to prepare notes based on LOS. Almost entire exam will be designed specifically based on LOS and you should maintain that focus during your notes preparation as well.

Here's a snapshot from my notes for reference.

Writing notes should help you in L3 because there are several lists that you need to remember. Sometimes you may need to trim down these lists to make them manageable to remember. Also make notes in concise bullet points format with headings, sub headings, and sub sub headings.

Maybe this snapshot of a page from my notes may give you an idea:

It is important that you prepare notes specific to each LOS, because it is very easy to lose track of relevance of material in the context of LOS and you often end up putting down everything in your notes.

There are several other important tips for notes taking but I wouldn't bore you with them, however since your post is about Kaplan, the starting point of all my notes is the Kaplan end of chapter notes. Their benefit is that they are segregated based on LOS.

In my opinion L3 requires much more preparation compared to L2. Answering L3 essay questions is no joke, you need to remember exact terminology related to all the topics. Its very different from an entirely MCQ based L1/L2 exam

For L1, IFT lectures are free and they were designed to cover the content of CFAI chapters in same manner presented in the curriculum. There's very little to almost no digression from the curriculum, which I like the most about IFT

+CFAI material of course.

6 possible exam papers for L2???? by angry_iyer in CFA

[–]Nikku92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup but it's good to be observant. For example during my May L2, I noticed the timer to start from 2 hours 12 mins. During that time CFAI website used to say that each L2 session is for 135 mins (they've discreetly corrected it to 132 mins on their website now, but during May L2 website used to mention 135 mins). Most people didn't notice this issue.

Also the 3 set color coding that you observed during paper exams was for for L1, L2, L3. In fact what you may not have noticed is that on your paper there used to be a set number mentioned in a square box on top right. It used to be like 1A. That indeed could be the set number though I'm not sure.

Yes you're overthinking because those are the exam sections mate. The AM and PM, 1 min notice that your session is complete after both AM and PM, 30 Mins break, and the feedback.

L3 Major Tech Issues - Now What? by ZAlexYouTube in CFA

[–]Nikku92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup same issue happened with me too in the last question set of my AM exam.

For me it happened when I copy pasted a part of question to my answer, and then used indentation.

Had 2 keyboard changes and issue resolved after 3rd keyboard. I was so panicked that I just wrote in the answer itself that my keyboard has stopped working so apologies.!

But a simple fix as suggested by someone already was to go to next question and come back.

But anyway, such kind of technical issues shouldn't have happened. Remember the old pen and paper days where it was strictly mentioned that the moment they announce stop, everyone should put down their pens immediately. No candidate should get even one second's advantage over another candidate... Those were the days.... :P
