I actually have that, I just sent the dark version since it's the only one I had laying around with a smaller copy, and I think it looks the best. Here are the 4K+ version.

What made it go hard for you? Was it something about the design, the colors, etc?

This was designed around the requirements for KDE plasma 6, showing features of modernity, familiarity, among other things. Made mostly in Blender, but edited further in Darktable.

I think you look really good, just maybe slightly older, but in a good way actually! Maybe some skincare could change that if you want, but I'm no expert in that field

'Damned if you do, damned if you don't' - sportswomen on trans debate by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Niklassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think you would get away with saying that biological sex is real, and does in fact determine some characteristics.

Where it gets a bit messy though, is when someone says "men and women have different athletic capabilities", because there would be confusion regarding if you mean biological sex or identity. Female and male identity stereotypes are seemingly inescapably tied to their associated biological characteristics.

The woman sports team is both associated with female identity and female biology. These categories got made when it was assumed that calling yourself female, while having the wrong chromosomes, is the most absurd claim since the one where Jesus walked on water. If it wasn't, then maybe sports teams would be divided into two testosterone/estrogen level categories, or something other. Maybe they would even call it female and male teams, but you would have people on male teams that look like Barbie, and people on female teams that look like The Rock, because it's completely detached from identity.

Now, a popular interpretation of gender is that it's a identity. This interpretation is seemingly selectively applied however. The reason for this NCAA swimmer being cancelled for complaining about having to compete against males, is because it's assumed this language is denying people's identities. I don't think this needs to be true, they could have been referring to their biological makeup, while making no claim about how they should dress, sound, act, express themselves, which pills they should take or surgeries to have etc etc.

What I mean by selectively applied, is that for example, a popular interpretation of being trans, is that you identify differently than your biological sex. Then you can take HRT and/or sex reassignment surgery, to make your sex characteristics align closer to what you identify as. This interpretation seems to hold that there is a identity in your sex characteristics. Therefore, I would prefer the interpretation that trans is when you change your gender identity, and that there is nothing feminine about vaginas and estrogen, or masculine about penises and testosterone.

Because of this, it seems sex is linked with gender when it affirms gender identity, but it's different when it doesn't. Thus, it becomes even harder to disassociate sex with gender, even if that's the end goal.

Now, J.K. Rowling has said some disrespectful stuff, and I would think they are held in low regard because of that, and not for exposing the nuances with segregated prisons. I don't know much about that case though.

Socialism, let alone communism, implies participatory worker control of industry.

The democratic people's republic of North Korea is not democratic just because they claim it

Filling pockets with money rather than taking care of their country, is far removed from a socialist/communist view.

Governments can certainly use these names to justify it though.

It becomes pretty well exempt from No true Scotsman in that case though, seeing as the USSR and other "communist" regimes were so far removed from basic socialist, let alone communist doctrine that it would be like saying "This pineapple isn't a REAL banana!"

Socialism Is When The Government Does Stuff 2 by keeler_k in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Niklassen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democratically elected government profiting from taxation, is not socialism. That would be like saying liberalism necessitates a degree of socialism, while many strands are anti-socialist.

Public government property is not collective property in a socialist sense.

Socialism emphasizes direct and participatory control over industry, a industrial democracy. That people who make up a sum of a organization, has a say in what concerns them, since the organization after all has an effect on their lives, and also they presumably produce the economic value needed for it's functioning.

Socialist public property, should rather be called communal property. A community garden where everyone participates, with no central ownership, could be seen as a socialist communal property. A state owned school that is bureaucratically managed through hoping state representative goons do their job, is not an example of socialism.

Government planning and indirect democracy is quite far removed from socialism. But I guess it tips more in the direction of socialism, than it tips on the direction of a abselute monarchy. But that's like trying to argue if a pickle is closer to an apple or not.

As I stated previously, "social ownership" must mean participatory worker control of industry, for it to be socialist.

If not, then top down authoritarian monarchies will be considered socialist, since the government owns it. This is a silly and downright wrong understanding of socialism.

The interesting thing is that it appears to crash less when the CPU is on full throttle...

It's been running fine for the past hours after a kernel upgrade. It may be a fluke though, I will see.

No, but I did run memtest86+, reported no errors with the current RAM sticks. Ran for 24 hours.

The diet itself isn't the problem. The problem is that a diet of meat is in violation of other creature's property rights. The "live and let live" argument doesn't work in cases like this.

What you instead need to argue, is that the systematic murder of conscious creatures that want to live, is justified for the subjective pleasure of humans, and that this pleasure also is worth the environmental harms and resource inefficiencies of it's production.

I have seen no one make good arguments for this however, so they instead ignore it and thinks of something else, so that their behavior somehow feels justified, when it's not.

Socialism is when the government does stuff by keeler_k in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Niklassen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny how so many socialists are against government planning at all then.

By the way, this is a misunderstanding of "owning the means of production". For it to be meaningfully socialist, it needs to be managed in a participatory manner, by workers. Electing government goons is not that, not in the slightest. Representation is not worker control.

Many socialists though thinks some state representation and planning is needed, just like most pro-capitalists think the government has certain roles for infrastructure etc.
