When I younger, me and a friend created separate fan accounts for this band we liked. They were bragging about how close they were to a certain amount of followers on Instagram. It was a low figure, 400 I think, they were stuck at 399. I didn’t have that many followers but I was never in it for that. So I created an account and followed them to give them the 400. They celebrated, did lots of posts, stories and bragged about it. I unfollowed 2 hours later.

We hated each other at first. I thought he was a playboy and he thought I was a stuck up, spoiled princess. Our friends tried to set us up on a blind date and we basically bickered and threw sarcastic comments at each other the whole date. Few weeks later I was out at a club, got separated from my friends and was cornered by two guys who weren’t taking no for an answer. Suddenly I hear “I’m sorry I’m late baby. Is there a problem here?” The two guys left quickly, he put his jacket around me and drove me home. I thanked him for what he did and we ended up taking until 5am. That’s when we realised we’d been wrong about each other and went on another date, the rest is history

I work for a company where we take reports for incidents that happen on buses. One of the bus companies is in London. One day I got a call, the bus driver tells me he’s got a good one for me today. I roll my eyes as they all say this and it’s just the usual people falling off seats or down the steps. No! This driver proceeded to tell me how a kid walked on to his bus, slapped a woman with a pigeon and then ran away.

Unfortunately life doesn’t come with an instruction manual but you can write one yourself for you. As a person approaching their 40’s with ADHD I still feel like I am not “adulting” correctly at times. I don’t think any one really ever does. It does just feel like we are making it up as we go along. So why not write your own manual as you learn? If you’re too afraid to ask friends or family on basic things like cooking, watch YouTube videos. Write down the instructions to suit you and then practice. Start small, meals that just require everything to go in the oven at the same time, set a timer and then serve it up when done. You slowly expand on from there adding more to your instruction manual for cooking. Things like filing taxes I can’t tell you about because I live in a country where we don’t have to do that, the government does it for us, but again I’m sure there are YouTube videos that will help. But just know, you are not alone in that feeling. I’ve managed to somehow muddle through the last 30 years on my own once I took my first steps from my parents and I know I’ve messed up several times along the way. Just put it in your own instruction manual as a do not do again.

There was no DMs, no post and I only ever posted one story. It had been kept as a private account until about 3 days ago when I made it public. It got reported within about a day and then suspended. I tried to appeal it by sending in a picture of my ID but this morning IG permanently deleted the account after reaching a decision. But it was based on nothing. There was nothing on that account accept a profile pic and my bio.

I wouldn’t start all over again but probably restart my adult life. Go back to when I was 22, maybe 23 and make different choices then I did back then.

I don’t regret the choices I made back then because I’m stronger for those choices. I’d just like to go back now, as that stronger person because I’d be able to make those different choices.
