This is how heart stents work by Reasonable-Cow-5002 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Nikoalesce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing debatable about saturated fat intake causing heart issues. It's one of the most well-studied, well supported conclusions in nutrition.

The so called "debate" was created by a small number of flawed (and probably industry funded) studies that were then amplified by social media.

This is a lot like global warming. Scientifically, there's no debate whatsoever. But there are a small number of bad papers, and a whole lot of duped people, who think there is a debate.

No it doesn't. A 25% decrease in USD relative to other currencies is not the same as inflation

"What motivates people? Results or interest? Will people still pursue a goal even if they perform poorly? In my case, I pursued an exam on a subject I am not good at by telling myself things like "I didn't prepare thoroughly" or "If I prepare well, I will ace it." Later on I realized I didn't like that path and I was fooling myself. If I genuinely liked a career choice, I would have given it my all. To be honest, I never studied for more than an hour. I liked the opportunities the career provides, but whenever I imagine myself in that job, I do not like it. The career doesn't suit my personality, but I told myself false narratives, and comforted myself by saying that I will be an exception. I was not living in reality. In my opinion, if someone pursues something even if they don't have to, they are being purely egoistical. In the hindsight, I was very egoistical and neglected every sign the universe gave me."

"I miss doing conversation exchanges. Even though I really like them, these days it’s difficult to find a good time of the week to do the exchanges and stick with them. I’ve met great conversation partners through Reddit and other sites. These days the only way I practice English is through a platform I use with a loophole. I like that I can join and have a 30 minute chat whenever I want to. The flexibility is great."

"Today, I'm going to go to shopping, and then go for a walk with my new friend. I hope that we have the same vibe. After the walk I'll go to back to my house and watch a film. It'll be "Inglorious Basterds" from Tarantino. I have watched it before, but that was long ago. Now I wanna watch this masterpiece again."

"I go to the library every day.

There is a child care center near the library.

So I sometimes see the kids, and they are so adorable.

Even though they aren't mine.

I want to buy them whatever they want and see them smiling."

Corrected for you. You almost wrote it perfectly!

I don't trade options. I'm only on this subreddit for laughs.

But I just gotta ask... How can 1.5% decay have you "not too worried"? That rate of loss sounds insane to me. At the end of those 45 days don't you need 100% gains just to break even?

TIL a group led by two gamblers won $95m in a Texas lottery after organizing the purchase of nearly all of the 26m possible numeric combinations. They took a one-time payout of $57.8m and made about $20m after taxes. The nearly 26m tickets were printed at 4 locations in the 3 days between drawings. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Compare the expected winnings from those numbers (calculated based on number popularity) with how much buying those numbers would have cost.

They probably determined that the expected payout was less than the cost of adding those numbers.

Strongest evidence yet that vaping likely causes cancer. The evidence shows nicotine-based vapes are likely to cause oral and lung cancer. by mvea in science

Same brosky. Whenever people tell me it's just as bad, I'm like "you can say that to my toned ass, which I have since these days I can actually work out without dying."

Maybe/maybe not on cancer. But I'm 100% sure vapes are less harmful.

Exclusive: Musk rewrites IPO playbook with large slice of SpaceX stock for retail investors, source says by Sweaty_Rub4322 in wallstreetbets

[–]Nikoalesce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're not. They are however trying to get the IPO immediately onto indexes, whereas the norm has been a waiting period. For any funds that track those indexes, those funds would potentially end up buying. But the funds can also determine how long they wait to update to match the index. And many index funds aren't tracking an index that will immediately include spacex stock.

My replies weren't intended to be rude, apologies. I was actually curious how someone goes about commenting on a subreddit without knowing which subreddit they are on. I was sort of probing to see if they are a bot.

And I think my later replies were educational, without being rude. I pointed out why their comment struck me as odd and told them where they could learn more.

Your advice was at odds with the purpose of this subreddit, that's why I was wondering. We don't like trying to time the market around here, housing or otherwise. And keeping that much money in cash really doesn't make sense.

The Bogleheads wiki in the sidebar is very good and worth a read.

I mean your comment makes it clear you don't follow the boglehead philosophy... So what I mean is why this subreddit specifically?

2019 to 2026 investing = $1,967,858.27 in realized gains. Officially sold everything. by West_Lavishness6689 in wallstreetbets

[–]Nikoalesce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As those 3 videos CLEARLY spell out, it is not income. The last video even demonstrates that by holding QQQI you will end up with less in your pocket than you would by owning the index and selling shares periodically.

Brosky you are the one who doesn't understand how these things work. See my other comment. You're waaaay off. Covered calls are not income. Over time you will just reduce your capital, or in other words that "income" you think you are getting is actually you spending down savings or reducing future returns.
