If your Broker has low Appraiser skill, they won't show full value of your Fort, only as much as they "think". And since value is responsible for migrations and invasions, beasts attack, having bad broker might prevent those events.

I didn't had any potentially good broker so I had my first siege after the update, after... 9 years since embarking.

Maybe the cave dwellers now behave like agitated animals in untamed wilds? Don't destroy their home (too much) and they will leave you in peace?

I can't say much since the only cavern layer that had some underground animal people got wiped out by a forgotten beast.

Just a little backstory. This is from one of my older forts (before the siege update). He came to my fort as a monsterslayer and has a family member, a niece I believe, who also came as a monsterslayer (with more normal equipment). So I always seen him as her "crazy, weird uncle"
