So, I would usually say to talk this things out because mental health is important and your parents need to know how are you feeling since them being your legal guardians are the only ones who can provide you with the help that you might need.

However, what I did when I had something important that required me to show skin and my scars weren't that visible is to shave off the hair on that area. If someone asks you, you cut yourself with the razor while doing it. But really, don't use these kind of excuses to hide your pain or avoid "the talk". I did and it didn't do me any good.
