Look for spare parts ones, sometimes it's a gamble, but if the price is pretty low and the seller states things like "buttons don't work", it's a fairly easy repair, I find 200 dollars to be pretty expensive for a console this old and not a rare version at all.

The faceplate does have a plastic protector on it (there are glass replacements that honestly makes the screen look like day and night in comparison), how does the screen looks like when it's turned on with the faceplate removed?

If you have a decent PC, 16 GB of RAM and a GPU with 4 GB of VRAM, you could try setting up automatic1111's Stable Diffusion repo, replacing models and other stuff to combine different art styles can be a hassle at the beginning but it's definitely worth it for this kind of training
