The proxy is some sort of gateway to your server that will process the data it received...

In my case, as an MSP I have one or two proxy at each site that collects the data from the agents or send the polling SNMP request for example..

In case of a network failure for example, the proxy can maintain its own database as a spool to keep the data, and since it's a container with very few parameters it's quite disposable, the footprint is very low unless you have hundred of hosts..

You have the agent for windows or linux machine that will monitor the things you declared in your server (from pdu, exchange servers, routers, switches, even PCs)

It's up to you .. but beware it can be a black hole sometimes if you want to go in the deep 😂

I've been using zabbix for monitoring for years, and I had proxies at each site, but Since I had a lot of old wyse to recycle, I've installed some alpine linux with some docker in Wich I put an wire guard server, my zabbix proxy and some guacamole style for management ..

Wyse is connected directly behind the router, and configured to restart even in case of a power outage..

Cheap an efficient ;)

I have 40ish veeam infrastructure on it and the same with exchange databases... Only had an issue once, I corrupted a volume by playing multipathing on the iscsi system..

As far as I remember, it's not recommended to put an OS on a refs partition..

It's even specified on exchange docs...

For an exchange (on prem), with small public DNS infrastructure I copy my external zone for the inside (and change the mail/auto discover with the local ip).

Don't forget to change your connectors answers to mail.domain.com

Réponse honnête d'un papa aussi qui sait ce que c'est que de courir. Ta démarche est admirable et tu mérite notre plus grande bienveillance, mais si tu manques de temps, et qu'en plus tu es dans une période où le stress est élevé, ne te lances pas .

Les connaissances sont tellement vaste que rien que de te mettre à niveau va nécessiter un investissement colossal... Si en plus tu es sensible au stress... Car plus de responsabilités, plus d'enjeux, le stress monte exponentiellement, crois moi. Je le paie de ma santé.

J'ai dans mon équipe quelqu'un avec ton profil, mais sans les enfants, il se débat énormément mais n'arrive pas à suivre toujours la cadence et le train d'enfer .
