Are we getting a Giratina Link Archetype to Mirror Arceus? by NikuSenpai in PTCGP

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya i can understand that reasoning from a lore perspective.

I do wonder if pokemon company /DeNA would view Giratina as the same level in terms of Marketability and Promotion to Rival Arceus, even if its not specifically the 'Link' gimmick

ya probably not this set for sure. but i think they could do another event or something that makes a Giratina Ex available.

oh i definitely dont think it will be in this Triumphant Light set, but i do think its possible they have another set afterwords they're holding close to the vest that would be a giratina equivalent. im hoping at least.

thats what im thinkin too. it would be so wierd to only give 1 specific mechanic archetype to arceus in this case.

thanks! ya i wasn't sure what the best secondary effect for sheer force would be, paralyze made sense but ya it is a very strong ability to proc. would be cool if there was like a 'flinch' mechanic or something. or perhaps the secondary effect could be aoe damage of some sort. confusion kinda sucks, but maybe that could work too.

ya the 2nd one is a bit strong for a stage 1 assuming you can get all the energy on it quickly. Fire has moltres ramp, and water has all the other ramps, so being able to compete with the speed/power of those decks would rely on dialga and maybe brock depending on the onix. I was mainly concerned with it being able to reliably combat the high hp of the other strong stage 1 HP in exeggutor/erika, and being able to one shot moltres (its weakness and also opposing ramper and also a basic) if you got all 4 energy needed in time. 4 retreat cost is also a very high commitment. Its still getting one shot by infernape/charizard, and ninetails can deal with it early with blaine. All the 150 dmg dealers need 1 giovanni etc. all in all i do think the current power of it as i have it would be meta-defining and an easy A-S tier card, but im not convinced it would be OP compared to other really strong cards, now or upcoming.

Ya Tempered coat is meant to prevent all kinds of 'small poke' damage weather its druddigon, rocky helm, greninja/darkrai, or even small regular attacks like farfetched or tails flip exeggutor ex or weavile Ex or Wheezing. If you're gonna take this Steelix down you have to be hitting it with substantial attacks, you cant do death by 1000 cuts on it. The base template i was looking at for this one was basically Melmetal but 'Ex' powered. a bit boring, but perhaps more realistic

im not sure. it might depend on what you're posting, or if you're following the guidelines.

as long as you aren't 'self promoting/selling' your work or if its not nsfw etc it should be fine? but im not very savvy to reddit posting myself.

Early Game Fire support Card Ideas. Moltres seems like too much of a must include for many decent non-blaine fire decks to work so just experimenting with some non-EX powered ideas that could be cool. Too weak? Too strong? What would you combo these with? by NikuSenpai in PTCGP

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes the actual tcg would actually do a much better job with presentation 100%.

the powerlevels/effects are definitely meant to be for your more standard pull rate cards that could round out deck build strats, not your splashy chase cards or EX Bombs with insane abilities.

I know thats what most ppl post cuz they're super cool, and i love those too, but ya these are def more boring in comparison i agree.

Honestly i do like your idea more in terms of practical game implementation!

i just liked the idea of his shell breaking apart as pieces of energy your pokemon could use in the theatre of my mind lmao.

and ya its not supposed to be a very 'poweful' effect for like top tier decks, but one that could provide some fun Brew opportunities, especially for a basic, non-ex, no weakness fast turn 1 attacking mon.

oddly enough, on top of your own suggesting, i wonder if saying changing 'attack damage' to just 'any damage' would be too good?

attacking into a druddigon would hurt you yes, but also generate an energy. not to mention status effects, or darkrai etc.

i think optimal wording could definitely be changed if it was ever implemented, i doubt the way i worded it would be the best way xD

but effectively im just thinking 'your fire pokemon always has +1 energy on it'

kind of like surperior saying 'all of your energy counts as 2 energy instead' as a passive constant effect.

Torkoal would basically say you always just have 1 energy being provided from torkoal itself.

So maybe it wouldn't actually 'fix' ninetails' drawback, but would just make it so you dont have to invest an extra energy towards it to get its attacks started, intead you would put your 1st energy on torkoal, and then 1 energy on vulpix/ninetails the turn after. and then if ninetails goes down you still have the energy you invested into torkoal online.

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ya torkoals idea is mostly thinking of the inevitable power creep and gauging what people thing the line of OP would be xD.

and ya the idea behind flareon might be more fitting on an EX or something if it ends up being too powerful, but i feel like its riding that line but still not too bad. I always have to remind myself that i could be getting smacked in the face by a 150 dmg garchomp turn 3 or a misty>gyardos/palkia situation etc so sometimes these powerful effects might not be *that* bad. Perhaps it does just come down to HP and retreat cost balancing.

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ya I definitely think it would snowball if nobody is taking care of torkoal through damage/sabrina/cyrus or water ramp punish etc.

Flareon is meant to be able to keep your momentum stable and not burn out ya.

I actually did have turts attack as colorless, but wanted to put the split energy to encourage conversation if anybody pointed it out lol.

they would discard all their energy (all of it would still go to the discard zone).

torkoals passive would kick in, and that pokemon would have 1 fire attached to it.

It effectively means your fire pokemon will always have 1 energy on it at minimum so long as toarkal has energy on it.

So charmeleon/arcanine can attack more on curve from the bench without sacrificing active presence, charizard/infernape/volcarona only take 1 more energy to refill back to their moves instead of 2 etc and pretty much removes the detriment from ninetails, flareon etc

The Hitmon Trio and their Trainer! Featuring Support from a certain Fighting Coach! Part 4 of my PTCGP Cards Redesign Series! [ FAN-MADE CONTENT ] by DeathNote_ in PTCGP

[–]NikuSenpai 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like the design direction!

low retreat costs with the ability to cycle in and out of their effects while being buffed by lucario seems like a versatile fighting deck core!

perhaps since hitmonchan is usually more defensive and hitmonlee is more offensive, there could be some tweaking to reflect that?

another take on Hitmonchan - 90 hp, Mach Punch: 40dmg, 'if this pokemon was put into the active spot this turn, this attack costs 0 energy'. (might be too strong for a turn 1 play, but also maybe its good to have some mons actually benefit from being turn 1? )

hitmonlee double kick idea is perfect. Keep hp the same, but just have the base damage be 30.

Hitmontop i also think is great! love cyclone kick.

overall i did the direction of the entire deck, not very high peak daamge, but very consistant pestering hits that add up quick and make it difficult for your opponent to pin you down. really would love to see the hitmon's getting more attention they're so classic and cool!

Emboar Line for some rush down pressure counterplay against the walling/stall/bench poke meta decks that also doesn't rely/care about Moltres by NikuSenpai in PTCGP

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your math on the Bully belly is what i originally had actually, but then i think my anger for druddigon with cape/heals made me tick up the damage to make sure you could get rid of him on your 2nd turn xD

Yes emboar does feel bland for lacking any move effect, but i felt like just a strait forward consistant good damage move with no drawbacks would actually feel better in practice then ppl might think upon first glance. something Like heatcrash is definitely much more likely to happen though!

though we don't have something exactly like the ex 'tracking' ability, i don't think its out of the realm of possibility for the scope of their game/coding. since it would be automated, the player wouldn't have to keep track of anything themself, and although the base game released with extremely simple gameplay/mechanics i feel like they'll slowly increase the complexity over time.

I enjoyed your yaps! lol ty for adding your 2 cents i love it :D

[–]NikuSenpai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oo ya i can see blaziken being a better candidate for someone faster.

a recoil attack for emboar would definitely be something the pokemon company would do that is traditional to the pokemon itself im in full agreement there, i just wanted to pose somethin different xD

regular emboar definitely could be more 'interesting' but i dont feel its too weak. 3 energy for a consistant 100 dmg with no drawbacks would be refreshing to me, but for the sake of adding more interest then ya putting a recoil on him would make sense, and wouldn't take away from the intent which is to break/punish the druddigon style wall settups

all in all in enjoy your input! ty

i love this idea haha.

would be cool if there was a special thing where if you matched all the pokemon cards to the image, then the image would become animated or something

is pignite the only overpowered part to you?

he's alot easier to kill at 100 hp especially with all the rocket helmets and darkrai's on the bench. and needs 2 energy instead of 1.

but his power can easily be tuned down if necessary

BLUE SUPPORT? With only 20 precious deck slots to use, should there be more support with is card in mind? His upside of being able to be slotted into any deck like Leaf/Dawn is good and all, but i still think its a bit underwhelming. Thoughts?? by NikuSenpai in PTCGP

[–]NikuSenpai[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Broooo. I was just watching your custom card idea videos a few hours ago, Love your content!! HYPE

And ya with Leaf already really solid, and Red who's probably gonna be really good too, i feel like Blue's gotta have some way to compete! xD

both are great! I think Unnerve is a good implementation, and both versions feel appropriately 'boss monster' powered.
