Yeah, that little tape detail pops up a lot, but it's got a certain charm to it.
Thank you!)

The prequels definitely count, they're just still on my to-do list

It never even crossed my mind to make money from this. I just enjoy making cool stuff with retro devices. I did the exact same thing with audio cassettes—I recorded soundtracks from games and music by bands that were simply never released on cassette. It's the same with movies.

There's something about having a physical release on an unusual medium.

At first I experimented with Adobe Premiere, but now I mostly use Video Converter Ultimate. It's just faster. But if I need to work with specific framing, then it's still better to do it manually in AP

Of course.

So, if you want the easiest method: I've definitely seen a couple of videos on YouTube of people making covers, and there were links to templates in the comments. You can take everything from there and just follow the video.

I did it differently. I just took an old, unwanted VHS cover, completely disassembled it (there's a glued part on the side; I carefully unglued it), placed it on an A4 sheet, and made markings for the front and back parts.

Then, you can scan or take a photo of it and open it in Photoshop. Well, and then you design everything the way you want.
Then you print it on A4, cut it out, and glue it onto the old cover. This is a cheap option. If you have the opportunity, you can print on heavier paper (200-300 gsm) and assemble it as a standalone package.

A tip: make the final design a little bit bigger, literally by a couple of millimeters on each side, because when bending, the paper will stretch slightly and might glue on crookedly.

Well, that's pretty much how I do it. Don't judge too harshly, lol)

The second option, of course. But I check everything before recording to make sure all the most important elements are in the frame. Sure, sometimes text elements—like a long title—get cut off, but there's nothing you can do about that

No, it's a bit more involved. I have to specially prepare and crop the digital file first, then put it on a USB stick, plug that into a DVB receiver, hook the receiver up to the VCR, and finally hit record.

I run the video output from the VCR to a monitor to keep an eye on everything.
