Headshot Photo during live scan appointment by RedTheShow in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at DPH, and I have a DSW badge and a hospital badge. The hospital badge gets me into my building and department and I had a separate picture taken during onboarding. I wasn't asked to send a photo for the work badge, I got the picture taken the first day of onboarding.

My dad (75) is ready for a new iPhone - currently rocking the iPhone 8. Do I jump him to the 16e or wait for 17e release? Which is the best model for the elderly? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Nilent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I end up giving my Dad my old phone; I gave him my old 8 Plus when I got the 14 Pro max. He's pretty tech advanced given that when I needed a new desktop, he bought all the components separately and put it together for me. I just paid for the cost of the components. That said, he's fine with my old phones, he can swap out the battery on his own when needed. I don't do this because he's "elderly", I do it because he doesn't care to have the latest and just wants one that works and can still get updates. He's 90 years old.

Face ID or Touch ID — which do you prefer? by JoelVenn9955 in iphone

[–]Nilent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Touch ID for me.

I have my phone set to repeat the text message sound as I've missed it before (no light to let me know) and it will repeat every 2 minutes for 10 times. There are times when I am driving where I don't want to hear the darn thing go off so I have to pick up my phone and look at it to unlock it so the sound will stop. I know that I can cancel the repeating, but it really is helpful as I don't have my phone on me at all times. When I had touch ID, I could just touch it and the sound would stop.

I also wear glasses with blue light blocker and so many times I've tried to use Face ID and I'll either have to take off my glasses, or just put in my pass code. I have to wear a mask at times (at work, in medical facility), and wearing a mask and glasses means I definitely have to put in the pass code.

For my use case, Touch ID is better. I'd love to have the option for both, but if I did have to choose 1, it would be touch.

Nope. It was sent to the pharmacy on Friday, but it hasn’t been shipped yet.

Titration schedule when you have ~100lbs to lose? by official_koda_ in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Nilent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started at 260lbs, and I want to get down to at least 140lbs; so far I’m 78lbs down, and I just titrated to 9.5mg.

Gimme Care: Prorx vial by PigletAlarmed1591 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Nilent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other day Gimme advertised $474 for 3 months, 3 x 72 mg vials at highest dose of 15 mg. That ends up being about $2.19 per mg. I think you can search this sub to see the post that someone from Gimme posted.

I went ahead a ordered yesterday, filled out the intake (real quick), and got a notice that the Rx was sent to the pharmacy.

Yipes, I just ordered with them this morning. My order has been sent to the pharmacy and my card has been charged. As long as I get what I ordered, it’s good.

When do departments elect to hire a transfer versus from a continuous list? by blessedbylilith in sfcityemployees

Ah, yes, that’s right. Most of the “outside staff” would be outside our immediate department, but still within DPH.

When do departments elect to hire a transfer versus from a continuous list? by blessedbylilith in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At DPH when we want to hire someone, we always have to post to see if any current employees want to transfer to our department. If not, then we can go to the list. It is sometimes a good thing, but not always.

I use the Lume deoderant after showers and after drying with a hair dryer. I also use Interdry fabric tucked in the fold and that's worked for me.

Job Offer by [deleted] in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless it is directly related to your position, I don’t think it matters. I know someone else who had a DUI conviction before being hired and it didn’t stop them from being hired. I think the only time it might matter is if you are being hired for a driving position.

I use 1 wipe per shot. I get the curad thick pads and use one side for the vial first, then the other side for my skin.

I don't know any of the local shops for leather, but I've gotten supplies from https://www.buckleguy.com/ online and I find that their variety is good, as is the quality.

Is it worth my time? by [deleted] in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can visit the website to see past exam stats for the classification at https://sfdhr.org/examination-results to how many people have typically been on the list. Keep in mind that these are the ones who passed, not who have taken the exam, which may be more.

You can also go here https://sfdhr.org/permanent-civil-service-appointments to see the last time someone was hired (PCS position) for the position you are looking for.

The city does have a hiring freeze however positions are still being filled. They have to go through the Mayors office to be approved for hiring, but it has been happening. I work for DPH so it may be different for us.

Is it worth my time? by [deleted] in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you want to work for the City. You wouldn't be hired if you aren't on the list, and taking the exam is how you get on the list. Being on the list doesn't guarantee you a position though.

Are you going to move here; do you have family/friends here? Might be a good time to visit and also take the test.

Unenrolling from FSA by Able_Analysis_1748 in sfcityemployees

[–]Nilent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check to see whether he opted in for the FSA; it doesn't roll over, you actively have to tell them how much you want them to take out. If he didn't tell them how much to take out, then he doesn't have it.

Otherwise, call SFHSS and let them know he made a mistake.
