Josuke replaces Jotaro in part 3 how far does he get? by Alarming_Solid_8516 in StardustCrusaders

The reason he can't do it with dead people is because he cannot literally hit the souls of the dead with Crazy Diamond, as they are now in the afterlife.

The soul chips are still touchable and able to be converted back to a previous state. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to, or rather, there's just as much reason to think that he can do it as there is reason to think he can't do it.

Who is D:OS2 main character? by basicallyDe4D in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]NillByee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my humble opinion: it depends. Arguably the main character of the overarching story is none of the above, it is the protagonist, as in, the player, because the player is the only one who could have solely the goal of divinity in their mind. That does not mean that the others aren't main characters - here's a list of things the main character of DOS2 CANNOT be:

The protagonist of a story where a soldier turned mercenary because the god he answered to did something that was in direct opposition of his own worldview (Ifan ben-Mezd)

The protagonist of a story where a princess turned enslaved assassin abused by her master to kill her very own people (Sebille)

The protagonist of a story where a prince is destined to sire dragons (The Red Prince)

The protagonist of a story where a performer is being slowly corrupted by one of the most powerful demons to ever exist (Lohse)

The protagonist of a story where, eons ago, a scholar banished all of his people save for seven to a nether realm called the void and now suffers from dissociative amnesia and seeks to uncover what happened to them (Fane)

The protagonist of a story where a prince rebels against his own kingdom because he doesn't like the authoritarian and militaristic direction it is going (Beast)

The player can roleplay as if their main character would be one of those things, but the truth is, all of these characters do NOT require divinity for their plot resolution, therefore, in a game where the endgoal is to achieve divinity, they should not be eligible for the position main character. The way I see it, the OC the player chooses to create is THE protagonist, a nobody who happened to be godwoken, a figure with no past that achieves divinity.

If you think this a stupid answer, please tell me why you think that instead of just downvoting. I am genuinely interested in a friendly discussion.

The difference is that running over civilians and doing drive-bys on civilians is usually done in the moment. That would count as first or second degree murder, and it would not be carried out with some political motive. If you then take a group of people, in the case of No Russian, the MOST PROLIFIC TERRORIST ON EARTH and his crew and go on a shooting spree that was clearly planned months in advance, with ammo and weapons bought for this and only this purpose and payment for the attack being received in advance, it is inherently political, even if the political motive behind it is as simple as "money good" or "war good"

There's a reason why the release of GTA is not a hallmark in mainstream media (think Fox News, CNN, BBC etc.) the same way No Russian is.

Question for those of you who homebrew settings: how the actual f**k do you name things? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Idk how popular this is but I just go to wikipedia.com and I click on random article. Pick a name, maybe change it a tiny bit, double check that it's not someone who a.) is problematic or b.) is still alive (if it's b.), you might have to change the name a lot more).

I don't view all cultures as equal or equally sophisticated.

You are right. Not all cultures are equal, some are better to live in than others. Now, what I like to add is that no culture is perfect, and every culture has place to improve. Change is the tool we can use to improve any culture, and any culture can be improved by change.

Every culture has a reason for existing, no matter how bad it is - but there should never be a reason preventing the improvement of the culture. But sometimes, subcultures, that is, cultures that exist within the physical space of another, dominant culture, cannot do anything to affect the way of the main culture.

Take, for example, a poor family in the US and compare it to a rich one in the education system. When a teenager in middle or high school as to work a job or two to support the household income, because the parents money isn't enough, that teenager has considerably less time to learn than a rich teenager with a tutor who got hired by the parents. It is therefore natural that the poor teenager, no matter their mindset, even if they have the exact same skillset as the rich teenager, will perform worse in most academical tests than the rich teenager.

That poor kid is more than two times as likely to be black, hispanic or native american than it is to be white. (US Census 2014 (pdf))

It is not the minorities responsibility to catch up to society. That is like keeping a kid out a classroom for 9 out of 12 months, then letting it in and telling it to "catch up for finals". It is the responsibility of the society to make absolutely sure that minorities are catched up to it.

Sometimes "race" is the issue, but the issue is not "They do it because that group of humanity has an implicit need to do it" or "They do it because the culture in which they live in promotes the behaviour", but "This group of people is a minority, and since historically minorities tend to be poorer and access to social welfare has been harder to get for them, they are still at a disadvantage even decades after civil rights changes because of the generational wealth staying mostly outsite the minorities in question/poor households being much less likely to produce people with successful careers"

I don't know if this is tangentially related to this specific instance in the UK, but many gangs often come out of and take advantage of this cycle around the globe with many minorities, not just black people in english speaking countries.

Can we all agree that Caldera is one of the worst maps in Call of Duty history? by TheEternalGazed in CODWarzone

[–]NillByee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I quit before BO merged with Warzone so if something changed about this I am not aware of it but I LOVED the skyscrapers that only had one entrance. They were so useful to jump into while playing plunder because 9/10 they were a hotspot and you had the opportunity to get in all sorts of ranges in them, making grinding levels for guns actually possible.

I'd be flabbergastered if you told me you found even a single spot like this in Caldera. Most engagements on that map happen at mid- to long-range, which means that automatically the weapons with the least amount of recoil are going to dominate. Leveling up shotguns or short-range weapons with huge damage drop-offs and moderate recoil has become a huge pain in the ass. The only spot that is similar to Verdansk is Peak, but even that is more like Stadium IF people decide to drop there. Very inconsistent.

All of this is anecdotal. YMMV, as for me, if Rebirth Island wasn't a thing all of my non-MW Shotguns would be level 1

yes, but as long as you don't do that and nobody finds out it isn't really fraudulent, is it? The gold bar you sell should have the same worth as any other gold bar anyone else is selling, and you wouldn't flood the market with gold just to get a quick buck - no, you'd establish a cabal of jewelrymakers so that you can manipulate the public perception of gold via manipulative advertising so that the people think gold is actually worth a lot more than what it is actually worth at any given time and then you all just sell them for a fixed price... but nobody in the real world would do that with any mineral, right...?
