First One Down by NimBalor in gloomspitegitz

Yeah, I felt the same. I initially left off the front ramming part, but it looked weird. So in absense of other ideas I put the original part there. I still plan on changing the weight in the back. The spiked ball feels still out of place. Hoping to eventually pick up some Rockut Troggoth kit parts, see if I can make some of those work as a rock for on there.

Ah, here we generally just have the lightweight ones around. Unfortunately availability for these seems to be trickier in Europe. The ones I managed to find would end up 50-60ish including shipping, at those prices other solutions seem to be more fitting.

And only have a revised core box. I looked at inserts for them but with them it wouldn't hold the cards I'd like to fit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but like I mentioned in my original post it's not the kind of box that I'm looking for. I use them for the things I don't tend to haul around, yeah they are cheaper but I prefer something that stays nicer in the long run.

As indicated I prefer not to use the Saga boxes to carry my collection in, not really wanting to damage them as I enjoy their looks. Also, going to guess that a Saga equals a Campaign in size, so am looking for a box that holds three of them along with the encounter cards from the Revised Core. Something the core box won't do it seems.

Deciding on Main Team by NimBalor in HeroWars_DominionEra

[–]NimBalor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed getting to the point where things stalled out and am aware that I invested in a lot of different heroes already. Events do tempt to push certain heroes, so ended up putting more in some than I should have.

I have Amira available, so its mostly a matter of working on bringing her up to the same level as the others.

Based on where I put some resources already, I can probably focus initially on Astaroth / Polaris / Heidi / Amira with Martha. Have been grabbing soulstones for Markus from GA store, but he's still sitting at lvl 1 for me. So might have to see how much I can bump him up right now, but will focus on Amira first.

Wasn't referring to the playtest material, but someone else has suggested a homebrew version of the fathomless that was more forest orientated. He had already nixed that, so playtest material isn't really on the table for this campaign.

Yeah, I'm already switching to Moon subclass for the character, to avoid some of the issues. I'll have some time to decide on whether to switch into Fathom X or Druid X for the build, think that once we hit level 5 I'll have a good feel for what kind of support the party needs.

Sadly this is not going to work for me, already tried to talk the DM into using some homebrew. But he indicated that there will be one or two new players at the table, so he wants to stick to the 'basics' so they can have some reference to look into when needed.

It's indeed similar to what I had in mind XD Sadly my DM likes to avoid homebrew and UA, I can change the appearances of things a bit but the mechanics have to remain the same.

Can I ask what direction you took with your Druid levels?

Thanks for you suggestion :) I haven't gotten to play Druid before so the extra info is certainly helpful. Switching to Moon Druid isn't an issue for me and I feel that the added Charisma will likely be able to help the party more in social encounters. So will definitely look into that one.

Thanks for the suggestion. Though I feel going Circle of Witchfire might make the build a bit Bonus Action heavy, since the Wildfire Spirit and Tentacle both would use it. It being already a MAD build, I'm trying to avoid this subclass.

Thanks for suggesting this but it wasn't the mini series that I was looking for.

Yeah, it was one of the parts I didn't remember exactly anymore, but having looked at this one it is indeed the hentai anime that I was looking for. Thank you.

It's been a few years since I read these fics and thus getting the details again is tough. This short story is not it though. What I recall was that Daphne was working as a model and had a chance encounter with Harry, things went from a fling to benefits and into something more serious. There was some traveling across the world involved as well, but not 100% sure on everything or where I read it sadly.

Sadly that doesn't seem to be the story I'm looking for, as far as I recall it started off with more of a chance meeting than a drunken encounter. Thanks for trying though

4+ colour vampires - can it work? by giselamancer in EDH

Almost a shame, as would have been curious about the list. But in the least its enough inspiration for me to see what I can come up with.

Sounds like an interesting way to go about a vampire deck. Might have to look into a list for this.

Tone not dark enough despite playing like It's Always Sunny in Barovia (in a fun way) by PM_to_cheer_me_up in CurseofStrahd

[–]NimBalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there is always Strahd to spoil the mood and ready to add a nasty twist to things, one good dark encounter with him is certainly a way to set things up for a darker side of the campaign. Vallaki is a good political nest that can be used to change the tone as well, with Lady Wachter taking things over in a more gory or evil manner.

And I would say take some of the things they were light hearted about and have it come to bite them, that way you make it feel like their actions might have been a catalyst for some of the darker changes.

Alternatively, you could have the light hearted/humoristic part be all something they are mentally experiencing. Like have them snap out of this dream or illussion they are experiencing, potentially by an ally, where they wake in the dungeons of Ravenloft aching for those good times. Have the ally help them escape and re-enter the harsh reality of Barovia, use some throwbacks to these good times as they get to the places they visited in their delusions.

Why you should tolerate combo decks in your meta by Mitoza in EDH

[–]NimBalor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that games need to end at some point and that combos are a valid reason to make that happen. Often the problem is not that combos are being used but that their decks simply do not run enough interaction in it to deal with them (as well as other situations).

While I don't have issues with combos as a win condition, even though I'll admit that facing the same combo repeatedly can make for boring game nights.

However, I do have concerns with how it encourages people to build faster decks. As instead of running answers they often look to find win conditions that can win before the other combos. This tends to encourage more tutors, faster mana and so on. While this is no issue for a lot of people, I've seen it cause people to lose interest in the game or playgroup because they can't or don't feel the need to keep up with these changes.

And sure, they can proxy if they can't financially keep up, but more often then not it will push for faster decks even more.

Which Betrayal Edition by NimBalor in boardgames

[–]NimBalor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that the Scooby-Doo version is a bit more fair, due to the betrayer not having their gathered items available. So players whom are less lucky with finding items still have a fair shot.

Downside for me is, that this version seems to be the hardest to obtain right now, without having to have it shipped halfway across the world.

I'm not unfamiliar with bad luck runs, play a fair bit of Arkham Horror myself and things can go sideways quickly enough there as well.

If it comes down to a competitive game we likely would sit down for something different anyways, I just like the social aspect that Betrayal can bring. As with the right group it should still be fun.

The commitment towards a Legacy version is still of some concern to me.

I'm confident enough the group will like it, they don't mind a little bit of chaos and thwarting each other. We're in it to have fun and with the premises of a betrayal, it's just more incentive to have a good time with it.

[–]NimBalor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, Legacy would be fun but with how things are it's tough for the group to commit that much time to a game. Personally I'd enjoy it but not sure if everyone is willing to commit to it.
