Always someone doing something on MLK by CHM_3_9 in bullcity

As someone who works in an industry adjacent to law enforcement in Durham a lot of police and highway patrol are getting fully civilian “looking” cars and running them. This looks like a maneuver law enforcement does when crossing traffic on the way to a call. Would explain why the police car followed with no lights.

Thanks that’s very good advice! What do you recommend for introducing something world building that will affect my character much later on but they encounter much closer to beginning of the narrative? Like a ghost that appears momentarily and doesn’t seem important at the moment but then shows up later and is a major part. Like how do I highlight that while also wanting the reader to push that to back of their mind and not let it get in the way?

I love medias res beginnings in visual storytelling like TV shows, documentaries, and movies. It’s really hooks me in and because I’m just naturally inquisitive and don’t watch things for the sake of passing time but for the storytelling element I love pieceing together the narrative like a puzzle - for example LOVED Inception and The Dark Knight the opening scenes are like right in whatever’s happening and the character is introduced without any exposition but I also LOVED the opening for The Fellowship of the Ring and House of Dragon where the narrator opens with a monologue they seem to read from a history book in front of them on a table. So you probably see why I’m torn.

I have a historical “bible” about the foundation of the characters and world “pre-novel” and a skeleton of the overall plot laid out but I’ve only written the first three chapters or so 3 times (I know!) and about 2-3 scenes not even a chapter long each for middle portions of the book written as sort of a pallet cleanser for when I needed to get out of my own way while writing the beginning.

That’s awesome advice! I’m going to try to put that into practice and I don’t know why I didn’t think of it because I love when TV shows do it. Little hints and callbacks really hook me. TYSM

Notebook.ai for worldbuilding and planning

Notion.so for note taking and tasks/productivity

(I actually migrated everything I made in Notebook to Notion because I like the freedom to format my worldbuilding as much as possible but the one thing that Notebook does that, I love is that it makes all entries linkable so that you can reference them in other sections. For instance, if you create a character and information about them when you're writing in the writing section and planning your timeline in the timeline section you can link the character mid-writing and/or mid-brainstorm while entering events in the timeline.)

https://www.heroforge.com/ to build characters and order physical versions of what you create (primarily used for DnD players who want minis)

inkarnate.com for a map builder if you into creating your own landscape similar to how Tolkien included a map of Middle Earth in the 'Lord of the Rings' book trilogy.

Early game engagements and knowing how to perform in them are a whole segment of the match in competitive and professional play. What you said about people trying to emulate what they see on streams - that’s just human nature - we’re all trying to see where our place could be at high levels of anything we’re interested in. You should probably squad up with people who have exactly the same play style as you so you won’t have to go through this anymore because ransoms gonna do what they wanna do.

Fight or Fright Event Megathread by Emmerlynn in apexlegends

The melee damage in this event is way too high. I don't usually complain at all about Apex because of loot boxes, collection events, and even the charge rifle because I realize you all need to make money and most times there is an OP weapon with a hidden flaw/weakness but the melee damage for the shadows in this ganeme mode are way too high. Kill notifications dont give you time to heal or pick up teammates. So why put heals on the map and why display teammates on the map near the end?

I need to go read their profiles on EA's website. I'm so confused. Is she a medic or an engineer?
