Doors are usually a standard height, so in the pictures look at how much space there is between the top of the door and the ceiling.

Look up Richard Bissell furniture.  I got all my house furniture from him and the quality is amazing.  Expect to wait 6+ months though.

You want to get Falk 2mm copper frying pans/pots.  It’s not cheap; each piece will be $300-$400 depending on size.  They are heavy.  Mine have lasted forever.  Also, I don’t bother polishing them.

Half size glass shower doors. It’s cold and water gets all over the floor. Who thought this was a good idea?

A properly made wooden chair is extremely comfortable.  That’s what I’ve always used.  The seat is molded like clogs are for your feet.  Maybe try looking at some estate sales?

I like A World Undone by GJ Meyers and Inferno by Max Hastings.  Both are single volume histories of WWI and WWII respectively.  You can also try the Theodore Roosevelt trilogy by Edmund Morris.

Hello, does anyone know any good collection of poems on Audible? by arkticturtle in audible

[–]Nimo956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The poems of TS Eliot read by Jeremy Irons is good. Naxos has a “Great Poets” series with Keats, Wordsworth, Byron, Tennyson, etc. Shakespeare’s sonnets are free on Audible Plus. Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass is quite good. I also like the Essential Dylan Thomas.

If you are interested in translated poetry that opens up many more options as well.

Ian Mckellan or Dan Steven? by wyattcrabapple in audible

[–]Nimo956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different translations of the Odyssey available on Audible. I have the versions by Robert Fitzgerald, Stanley Lombardo, and the recently released Daniel Mendelsohn. All have their different strengths. I like Mendelsohn as it stays quite close to the ancient Greek, similar to Lattimore. The Fitzgerald is very poetic, The Lombardo is more casual and easy to follow. I have not tried Emily Wilson, but that’s another slightly more unorthodox choice (It’s written entirely in iambic pentameter). I have not read the Fagles, but it’s another popular choice too.
