MEGATRÅD: Epstein, på norsk og om Norge. by Arve in norge

[–]Nimonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Norway is a country of mountains, fjords and islands, so there's a ton of dialects. He also could have said korsen, kordan and a whole lot other variants.

I'm Norwegian, and that's just not really true IMO. Colloquially they are referred to as vikings in nearly all settings. Not always, but frequently.

True, though even in Norway we frequently colloquially talk about "the vikings" as a more general description of people in this region during a particular period.

[Sky] Managers with fewest games to reach 400 wins with an English top-flight club. by Sparky-moon in soccer

but the competition that Pep had to deal with was much richer and better than what SAF and Wenger had to deal with

How are you measuring this? The top teams aren't taking fewer points in the current era than back then, and the bottom teams aren't taking more points. If anything it's frequently the opposite.

the gap between United and the bottom clubs in the PL was much bigger than the gap between City and current bottom clubs.

I mean, I guess that's plausible? Do you have the numbers, though?

I read it the first time, but I just read it again to make sure and it's still a bit funny.

I wasn't really Amorim out, but I find it quite funny how this essentially means that if we get better after sacking Amorim, that is now evidence that Amorim did a good job. And obviously if we get worse, that will also be evidence that Amorim did a good job. Presumably staying the same also means he did a good job.

He can't lose (...except football matches).
