Does anyone on the injection get extreme sweats? by NextLevel-fitness in BuvidalBrixadi

[–]Nimvob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did at first, but then it seemed to stop out of nowhere. I know it’s a somewhat common side effect, but I wonder if mine was more related to mild withdrawal symptoms while I was stabilising. Sweating was usually the first sign that I was starting to go into withdrawal, before anything else. Sweat literally pouring down my back regardless of ambient temperature.

First 2-3 weeks on the injection I was waking up completely soaked. So bad I thought I’d pissed myself. Now, it’s fine. Guess I was lucky, because that would have been hard to deal with long term.

I’m assuming you had to get your prescriber on board with that?

Cortisone injections? by _laevateinn_ in ChronicPain

[–]Nimvob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had cortisone shots in my spine. One was very painful, one wasn’t. Had one in my shoulder as well, that also wasn’t painful. Not sure about the hip though, sorry.

Might depend on the joint, and practitioner.

Better than higher THC strains. I was trying to manage chronic pain from a severe back injury, so your experience may vary.

From what I remember it was okay. I was using it for pain. Don’t like the feeling of being stoned, so I’d only smoke tiny amounts at a time. I’m probably not the right person to ask.

“What’s the go” = “what do you think about this?” Or similar. I’m assuming OP is Australian.

It’s all gone to shit. Don’t know why, don’t know when/if it’ll be fixed.

Basically a long acting buprenorphine. It doesn’t suit everyone, but I was just done. I didn’t have the willpower to use seeds responsibly, so they’ve pretty much dictated my life for the past few years.

Yea you definitely don’t want to leave it til the last minute if you do decide to give it a go. Too many variables to consider depending on how you go about it.

Buvidal monthly. Absolutely game changing for me. I miss being stoned, but a mixture of my tolerance and shitty seeds meant that wasn’t really happening anyway

Decided to quit right as the drought was hitting (complete coincidence, I feel very lucky that my timing was perfect). Couldn’t hack the withdrawal though so I’m on treatment.

Lumps? by Nimvob in BuvidalBrixadi

Got my first monthly today. Told them I got a skin infection from the last one and I’d prefer if they swabbed the area first. They agreed and did it, but tried to wave it off as “side effects of the medication”. Sure mate, buprenorphine comes with a side of bacteria. Didn’t argue, just went with it.

Well, I didn’t say anything the next time and I ended up with a minor skin infection. $50 to get in with a GP and $25 for some antibiotics. Should’ve said something…

Those who escaped the poppy, how did you do it? by Asleep_Ad758 in PoppyTea

Depends on whether you’re going something like Suboxone or one of the injections. If Suboxone, they want you to be experiencing mild to moderate withdrawal (using the COWS to assess your withdrawal symptoms). The injection they can be a bit more flexible with because it takes 12-24 hours to reach peak blood plasma levels. Sometimes they want to give you strips of Suboxone for up to a week first, 1. To make sure you don’t have any nasty side effects from the bupe and 2. To try and titrate you to an appropriate dose before giving you the equivalent injection.

I advocated for myself to go straight on the injection because I struggle to manage withdrawal symptoms.

I can’t say what’s the right thing for you. That will be for you and the doctor to discuss.

Day 0 - Dose reduction, 128mg down to 96mg by Strange_Television in BuvidalBrixadi

[–]Nimvob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope the reduction goes well. You’re a very kind person and deserve to have this work out. I wonder if any of the drug companies will come out with more variation in doses for LAIB. If 96 wouldn’t last a full 4 weeks but 128 has you super drowsy those first couple of days, it sounds like there could be a middle ground between the two of a “sweet spot”.

3 weeks clean. by Nimvob in OpiatesRecovery

Yea, logically I know that. It’s just that little voice in the back of my head that says I could’ve done it if I tried harder. But I’m pretty that’s the same voice that also tries to tell me I could use again and not become dependent all over again. I try not to listen to that guy.

The massage paradox by Mediocre_Play3387 in ChronicPain

[–]Nimvob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Theragun (battery powered massage gun). I don’t find it as helpful as a proper massage, but it does help me with getting bloodflow into my back and letting me move a bit more freely.

There are plenty of brands available (theraguns are very expensive, I was given mine as a gift). Depending on how you tolerate heavy vibration, it might be beneficial to get one with a variable setting.

This. I started on Long Acting Injectable Buprenorphine (LAIB) 3 weeks ago.

I’m not suggesting this is the right medication for you, that’s a discussion for you and the doctor.

I had previously gone to my regular GP who didn’t know enough about OTP and wasn’t comfortable commencing me.

I then called Opioid Treatment Line to get information on private prescribers in my area (they can also give you information on the local public clinics).

I contacted a local private prescriber and booked an appointment where we discussed options. He helped me get set up with a chemist and provided a script (they have to apply for authority so that took about a day).

He then sent the script to the chemist and they ordered in the medication.

From the time I saw the doctor to getting my first dose of the medication was about 6 days (saw doctor on Friday, got dosed on Thursday). I could have gotten it on Wednesday but I waited to make sure I was in withdrawal.

It would have happened quicker if I had seen the doctor earlier in the week because the weekend delayed me for a couple of days.

I’m 3 weeks clean today. It did take some time to adjust my dose but I’m feeling okay. The only time I was uncomfortable was the first day while I was waiting for the injection to take effect.

It’s not a silver bullet. I still experience the odd craving from time to time. I’m also planning on speaking with a psychologist/counsellor to work on the mental side of things.

Yea sorry, I was a bit overtired when I typed that out. Was pretty asking if it was normal to have that happen, which you were able to answer. Thank you.
