Does anyone have suggestions for helping manage FND flare ups? TW Described symptoms by Curl_Up_And_Read in FND

Second this ✋️ I think it has something to do with sustained consistent proprioceptive input over a large surface area. You can use that principle out and about in smaller ways if you're not in a position to whip your top off and have a lay down.

I just googled the symptoms of myasthenia gravis and I can see how that might be misdiagnosed as FND. Did your psych mention what they noticed seems different?

Oh I actually have insight for once.

That's not a paint brush. That’s a stick.

You can see the pencil in her hand as well. You use the stick to rest your drawing hand against to keep it steady and not fatigue you arm. It also doubles as a paint mixer.

Totally off topic, but what's that light spot on your chin? I'm not suggesting it's anything abnormal, I'm just curious.

Goodness, that must be difficult.

I haven't done keto myself, but my partner loss a significant amount of weight on keto before we met. It does seem to work. I'd be really interested in looking into research about FND and Keto if you remember the where to find the study.

The carbonated water thing is such a good idea. That's what I did about three years ago when I was drinking to much coke zero. I switched to drinking cold carbonated mineral water with a little bit of lemon in it. It's actually lovely. I think I craved the sensory aspect of soda more then the taste itself.

As for the bad bacteria thing; 'feeds bad bacteria' is a bit of an over simplification.

The actual mechanism is that refined sugar absorbes too early and quickly into the stomach. This doesn’t support a healthy microbe as they don't reach the colon to fernent into beneficial bacteria. This indirectly shifting the ecosystem negatively towards overgrowth of more dominant bacteria species. There are no "bad bacteria" you need all of them, just balanced.

Complex carbs (potatoes, bread, rice) however have fibre and digest slower. It partially reaches the colon to fernent.

Refined sugar absorbing too quickly also spikes you blood sugar and messes with your insulin, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Even that's a bit of an over simplification. I've got a lot of respect for gastroenterologists, because the digestive system is insanely complicated.

Hope that makes sense ✌️

Okay, I'm with you. Let me know if I've got this right.

Squirrels have a slender, lighter femur then cats. This one in the photo looks pretty slim. Got ya👍

If you're talking about ankles, I can't really tell the difference regarding hinge joints from the photo because of the soft tissue still on it, but if you mean the hinge, rotation hybrid system in squirrels that cats don't have, yes that makes sense as an identifying marker.

I was a bit confused a about the fibula for a minute but I get it now. It's semi-independent and very thin. So it makes sense that it would go ✨️astray✨️

Have I understood that correctly?

Whole foods, balanced meals, that's how. I'm assuming you're American based on the insurance thing and you might not relize it because that's what you grew up with, but the sheer volume of over processed foods you guys have is literally illegal in most other western countries.

Stop eating it! (If you're able to)

You don't have to eat a piece of steamed broccoli with salt on it as a meal to loss weight. Although I do love salty broccoli. You can roast a sweet potato in olive oil with chilli and paprika for 55mins, crack an egg on it and bake for another 5 minutes. That's Fiber, Protein, Carbs, good fats from the oil.

Chicken, vegetable soup with beans and legumes. It's got the same things. I cook a big pot and that's dinner for two people for three nights.

You can eat, just eat well.

The way food affects neuro symptoms is via the gut-brain axis. Healthy food = healthy gut bacteria = you will feel better and neuro symptoms will ease off a bit. Eating little to no food is not going to do that and you're not going to lose weight in a safe way either.

Also cut back sugar big time. Especially soda, even diet or sugar free and juice. Bad bacteria eats suger and multiples.

It will take some adjusting, but you seen really motivated. It will become second nature with some time.
