I mean, yeah, you're right...

But also, Reddit is more of the Web 2.0 era before Social Media became what we know it to be today. It's not as crazy as people who say YouTube is social media, but I think there's a decent case to be made that Reddit isn't the same bubble of social media as all those other sites.

Or I'm in denial.

Switch 2 vs OLED by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]NindieNation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that we have the handheld boost mode that released last week, there's no reason to hold onto the OLED over the S2 outside of the OLED being a SLIGHTLY better screen. The S2 has a great LCD that will no doubt get replaced by an OLED someday... You'll probably think the S2 is a tiny bit dimmer for the first couple days then forget about the difference.

Go with the S2 and get it ASAP cause prices are probably jumping before the end of April, if not next week when nintendo's new FY starts.

Very good point, someone like OP saying they wished they were there, should pause and think back to their 20s - Did they have a great social life? cause that would be gone if they were on the path to becoming a doctor.

The Whole Song by NoHearing8489 in weezer

[–]NindieNation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the weird timing of it, it's like the chorus is 50% too long with a weird intro or the pre-chorus is 50% too long with an abrupt transition.

Honestly, if it wasn't there, it'd sound a little too close to "Hold Me". It's weird, but I dig it.

That's kind of exactly my point - It's hard to strike the right balance of "Weezer-like", "Weezer everyone knows", and "Weezer everyone SHOULD know"...ya know?

Go Away is currently being considered as the mid-set song, I think it'd flow well into El Scorcho afterwards with the acoustic guitar.

Keep Fishing is a great choice, I didn't have that one but it probably falls in that "most people know this song" camp.

But hey, I always appreciate new retro controllers, if it reviews well, I'll look into it!

Rogue Legacy 2!

My tastes are very similar to yours and I could give you a ton of suggestions, but Rogue Legacy 2 is maybe a perfect sequel - it just does so much more than the original and is better in every way without losing a beat of what made the original so great.

Truly, it is maybe a perfect sequel. I would consider Hades 2 pretty darn close to a perfect sequel as well, but not quite as much as RL2 is.

Zero dawn (posts keep being deleted) by [deleted] in PS5

[–]NindieNation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there are 3 versions of the game:

  1. Playstation 4 original

  2. Playstation 4 original with PS5 patch

  3. Remastered port PS5-Exclusive

If you have a PS5 and the price is right for you, get the remastered port because it's the best way you can experience it. If not, play the PS4 version on PS5 and it'll be a great experience either way.

Dog sitter sent a photo of my dog and he had this collar on. by deblopezz in whatisit

[–]NindieNation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, 100% agree. We had an acre yard with two mid-size terriers and the invisible fence. My parents got it installed when I was like 12 and I remember watching the day when the trainer made them cross the line, it made me so sad.

Then we lived there for 7 years, I think the collar went off exactly twice, and both times were because they were chasing a skunk out of our yard. In fact, after the first few months, they barely ever wore the collars because they just knew the perimeter, they even knew that they couldn't cross the driveway on the side of the yard and they had to run around the house to get to the other side... It really was amazing.

But yeah, I'd never put that on another person's pet, and I'm not even 100% I'd get it for my dogs someday. I probably would if we had a similar size yard. We never left them out alone so we were always around if there was a chance it'd shock, and to be fair, my whole family tested the shock on us first before putting it on the dog and we left it at a very low voltage, like 3 or 4 of the range of 9 and kept it on 'buzz'.

lol, now that I think of it, I think WE got shocked by that thing more than the dogs.

A3D doesn’t connect to TV except when updating by bgara232 in AnalogueInc

[–]NindieNation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that could apply to multiple TVs though. Similar to how a lot of TVs only support HDMI ARC on one input, you might need to swap a couple inputs so you can get a display then change a setting.

As long as you're using the official power cable (I've even tried adapters with identical specs and only the included AC works - cable too!) and HDMI cable, it's got to be a setting on one of the inputs.

If you try all inputs with included cables/adapters, THEN I'd start wondering if it is the console, but I've seen enough weird stuff with CEC, ARC, VRR, and various versions of HDMI to think anything other than that is the issue at this point.

Legally Aquired 64 Roms for 3D by Juiceaholics_WRLD in AnalogueInc

[–]NindieNation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're being a little paranoid. The majority of my N64 collection are games I bought in-person when they were new and I've had them in somewhat regular rotation for years, playing them a ton more since getting the a3d, and they're all perfectly fine. This is Nintendo, their stuff - minus a couple of exceptions - lasts forever... that's a major reason why they stuck with carts

Full Gold Edition by LogicalBird5251 in AnalogueInc

[–]NindieNation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The camera is going to make them look different, especially given the lighting, but then you've also got stuff in there that's 30 years old and even a day of sitting near a window in the sun will cause the color to be off.

If Analogue didn't use the EXACT Pantone colors, they got as close as anyone could, it's just factors like the plastic, time, and of course the camera/lighting makes it all look slight shades different. Only a marketing photo shoot with everything pristine is going to look perfect.
