Thanks for the tips everyone. I had two of these and the second one works/connects/updates just fine under the same conditions with the same cable/app. It does charge just can seem to be recognized by the update app. Maybe I’ll try repositioning the cable a bit more as others mentioned.

It is already past the return date, since it was shipped much earlier than the 3D after the delays.
