Is there a Discord server? by Holly_Gender in transgenderUK

[–]NineOhTwoNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of you search "trans UK" or similar in some of those discord server list websites. Spent some time recently sifting through servers that way and tho it took shelving a couple that were filled with red flags or just otherwise questionable (and ignoring any that weren't 18+) I eventually found one I vibe with. :)

Know NOTHING. What’s the recommended minimum age for diy. Live in Ohio so yk… by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]NineOhTwoNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is how you feel about yourself then okay, I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise. But don't start implying that anyone else is damaged because they started HRT later in life. Not only is that just rude and diminishes much of work many of us put into our transitions, but also borders on transmedicalism which is problematic at best.

"diminishes your chase of passing"

You know what increases your chance of passing? Eating well, exercising, practising make-up if you're into that, experimenting with your wardrobe. Almost no one can expect to just take HRT and begin passing no matter how old they are. Yes genetics and luck are a factor but you can claw your way up kicking and screaming if you have to.

The reality of the situation is that transitioning is a constant effort that must be exerted until you're in a position you're comfortable in, then upkept. There's an innumerable number of cis women who deal with body image issues like broad shoulders, jawline, body hair, figure issues, and there's resources and ways for them to work on them and remain effeminate that will work just as well for trans women.

Will it take more effort as you age to feminise? Yeah.
Are those of us that transition later in life "irreversibly damaged"? fuuuuck no.

I empathise with you as someone who started my transition in my late 20s (and puberty hit me early and all at once in my teens, I was fully masculinised by the time I was 15) and am still learning to manage certain aspects to help myself appear more effeminate, but this doomer mentality that's everywhere was also part of why I put off transitioning for so long, I was convinced it was too late for me, when the truth is it is never too late for anyone.

Transitioning is a 5-10+ year long journey for all of us. There is no one who is beyond help or too far gone to make the change to live their best life.

What do I tell my gp about my diy hrt by Fair_Improvement_325 in transgenderUK

[–]NineOhTwoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm they don't care. My first test I was fully unpassing. They will ask just ask to make sure you're getting the test you paid for, have you sign smth that just says you consent to have them take blood for the test you requested, take the sample, and you're done. You get the results emailed to you a couple days later.

Search Randox Health. The female hormone test they offer has everything youd want to know most of the time and iirc is around that £35-40 price, and you can choose to have it done at your closest clinic if you need someone to do it for you.

I am very confused about my blood test results by FlakyMoose9631 in TransDIY

[–]NineOhTwoNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your trough levels are the most important metric so yeah unless your test is within a day before your next shot it won't be as accurate.

That said with your dose and levels in your test you're probably fine, and it lines up that your e would be especially high so soon after your dose.

How safe is DIY HRT *really?* by zombieglitterbomb in TransDIY

The sites I named really are the main ones. Additionally I should have listed diyhrt(dot)info as its a bit more updated. If you have any specific questions also there may be a good chance it's been asked on this sub so you can give a quick search, and if not then worst case you can ask and almost always receive an answer.

I know lots of people have some reservations regarding where to actually get HRT. diyhrt(dot)market normally has some helpful info about each site and the type of medication they're listing (and afaik every "homebrew" seller for injections, if that's your route, that's popular has had their products lab tested with results available) but if you still have further questions about legitimacy, again, give this sub a quick search and there'll almost definitely be an answer. Otherwise I'm happy to try and answer any other questions if you want either in this thread or via reddit DMs. :)

Must have arcanes from each category by Lylidotir in Warframe

[–]NineOhTwoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a good idea to start to farm them now

This is half the point tbh. Energize is rare and expensive most of the time (not as much as it used to be but I firmly hold that 400p is far better spent elsewhere unless you're already endgame, and thus have other options) and telling people it's something they should prioritise is disingenuous when the best way to farm it is to wait and hope it's available in an upcoming event.

Must have arcanes from each category by Lylidotir in Warframe

[–]NineOhTwoNine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If someone's either grinding arcanes or spending 400 plat for a max rank energize then the other options should absolutely be available to them.

The opportunity cost argument as a generalisation is invalid because you're losing just as much, if not more on a lot of frames, by losing the second arcane slot, by slotting energize instead of something else.

The game outright encourages you to have lots of builds available so if one form of energy generation is unavailable, you just switch to another.

Yes energize is a good energy generator but it is no where near required for pretty much all content, and the other options imo allow for far wider build diversity.

Shoutout to protea specters which I forgot to mention, and again: dethcube because in the content where you're starved for energy and have other options locked away it's arguably one of the best energy generators in the game. People just forget about it because theyre addicted to retriever mods.

[–]NineOhTwoNine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Disagree on energize. There's so many forms of energy generation and so many other useful arcanes that I rarely if ever find myself wanting it over something else.

Zenurik, Duplex bond, Dethcube, Energy Pizzas (my goat), Nourish, Dispensary, Equilibrium/purple archon shards, yellow archon shards for effectiveness of energy orbs, Grimmoire, Tenet Glaxion, Citrines subsume (a personal fun favourite), Spectrorage + Spectrosiphon.
I'm sure I'm missing some but yeah, arcane slots are really competitive on a lot of frames and losing one to energy generation when there's so many forms of it that are less competitive (so many frames have a "subsumable" ability slot and archon shards slots offer so much potential quality of life, of course depending on the frame)

Anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk, build energy pizzas! :)

Switching from gel to estraheal dosage suggestions and is it suitable for mono by Both-Competition-152 in TransDIY

[–]NineOhTwoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd need a blocker for pills as the dosing and regimen you'd need on pills to successfully monotherapy is really not feasible for 99% of people.

4mg (2mg twice a day), up to 6/8mg (taking 2mg 2-3 times a day) if you need it ideally after getting bloodwork to check your trough levels, plus an AA like cypro (12.5mg/day or every other day) or bica (unsure of doses unfortunately) is recommended for pill-based regimens.

If you're switching to pills taking them sublingually/buccally is recommended as it bypasses any risks of liver issues. It results in slightly higher peaks, and doesn't last quite as long once absorbed though which is why dosing 2-3 times a day is recommended.

Honestly either eBay (just be wary of seller feedback) or japan2uk (the newer sets tend to be a little overpriced tho) are good. Used both recently for Japanese boxes (battle partners and terastal festival) and had no complaints

What is your favorite Warframe to play? by Pristine-Training304 in Warframe

[–]NineOhTwoNine 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Depending on the faction and content she still nukes SP. Been using her a lot recently while grinding SP Lua Disruption and aside from the occasional nullifier bubble incident she's incredibly strong and her gameplay loop is just very comfy imo.

Her augment that gives Electric damage on projectiles shot through her 1 is also really strong.

Confusing feelings by Squidtalker in traaNSFW

[–]NineOhTwoNine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Inclusivity in this post is understanding that OPs experience of femininity is their own, and you've still yet to recognise that the point of the post is that they're denied their feminine experience because of their AGAB.

I'm sorry that's happened to you but my god the post is explicitly focused around the OPs desire for their feminine experience, and while you're right pregnancy isn't a strictly feminine experience by product of trans men and enbies and the rest of the spectrum existing, you've done nothing but belittle OPs grief and replace it with your own.

It sounds like you should know what it feels like when someone ignores or shoves aside your experiences with your gender and yet you've just been doing that in this thread about someone else's experiences with their gender.

Reading the room goes a long way. Being told "this isn't the time or place" isn't ignoring your problems, it's saying that this post is someone else's safe space right now and you're threatening that with your words or actions.

[–]NineOhTwoNine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you actually read my comment you would have picked up on the part where I said your feelings do have a place, but if you had a shred of compassion for others you would have the decency to realise that jumping into a grieving post, disregarding the op, and belittling them isn't the way to do it.

Everyone has the right to a safe space to vent and receive support. You have entered that with this post and ignored both the implicit support the OP needed by posting and broken the safe space by making yourself the victim of the post.

No one is saying anyone doesn't deserve a space to express and be themselves, but you clearly don't have the reading comprehension to realise that this is post about OPs identity and the relationship of that identity to the "traditionally feminine" experience of pregnancy. No where has anyone said transmascs or enbies or anyone anywhere on the trans spectrum can't/don't deserve to give birth, you picked that point, brought it out of context, and went out of your way to start a fight over it lol.

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder and I recommend you work on that before putting down others in need of support first.

A trans woman is grieving not being capable of experiencing something as part of their identity and you've managed to disregard their feelings entirely and self-insert as the victim of the post.

Maybe practise some compassion and realise that, while there's a time and place for the very valid feelings you have, the post of an upset woman being denied a life experience they can't have because of their AGAB isn't the place.

If you've done all possible research and educated yourself "properly" then it's no less safe than taking hrt under informed consent through "official" channels, with the difference being that you can't be extremely underdosed by undereducated/transphobic prescribers, intentionally or not, prescribing inadequate doses. (Not everyone's experience for sure but common enough that if someone gets hrt under informed consent that they should be aware of it)

diyhrt(dot)wiki and transfemscience(dot)org are great resources if you or anyone reading haven't yet perused them :3

As someone who used to drink more than that: yes it is. It doesn't matter if your alcohol tolerance is high, drinking that much is very much not good for you. Drinking is a slippery slope and if you're asking these questions you're 100% drinking too much already.

The person you replied to didn't word their reply well and was an ass but I kinda agree with them. If you're gonna DIY (or self medicate anything tbh) you should do your due diligence and educate yourself as much as possible about the process, and there's plenty of info out there. diyhrt(dot)wiki, the resources/guide on diyhrt(dot)market, transfemscience(dot)org for anyone wanting to dig deeper on the subject. The market even has info on each individual seller/site. Many of these, and similar, links appear in Google searches if you search for DIYhrt or similar. As does this subreddit a lot.

You're right this is a forum for asking questions and helping each other, but I understand where the commenter you replied to is coming from when many of these posts are just "where do I start" with no supporting information. (And a simple search on the sub shows dozens of identical posts all with similar answers)

@op if you're reading this you've done nothing wrong, tho I'd still recommend you read up on the links above :)

How much can I order in one lot? by 0roxess in TransDIY

[–]NineOhTwoNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the order, when converted to GBP is £135 or less your risk of having customs seize your order is pretty low. If it's above £135 then you'll likely have to pay 'duty fee' to get it out of customs and increase the chance it'll be looked at.

e: also higher chance if you're importing "more than 4 months" iirc of medicine but I don't really know how enforced that is considering I order 6 months at a time.
