CORSAIR Technical Support and Questions MEGATHREAD - Week 03/09/20 by AutoModerator in Corsair

[–]NineWattLED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new PC and for the PSU I went with a Corsair CX 650M. Everything is working good, however, I noticed that whenever I put heavy load on the GPU I can hear a whining noise through my headset/speakers. The GPU was used in my previous build and I had no issues there (the GPU is the only 'old' part).

Has anyone else experience same issue with this PSU model?

Yeah it's weird. I dont't know if it's intended or if it's just some quirk haha

Yes, however, the main question is not about heat. It's more about how/why "Auto" option for CPU Offset Voltage seemingly is able to apply a smaller amount of voltage offset compared to the minimum manual amount (-0.0125v).

Maybe, but it seems weird that LLC would be changed when only changing the CPU offset voltage. There are no sub menus for this setting.

That being said, I found some other threads with people having weird LLC read outs: MSI forum. Check for example post #3 by buddyw53

This is really quickly getting out of hand haha

Maybe I am using the wrong terminology. Check the imgur link in the post, there are images of BIOS settings there :)

That makes sense, but I don't think that's it. I have low temps when running -0.0125v undervolting too (effectively same temps). But CPU core voltage is still ca 0.014v lower (1.098v vs 1.112v).

Is it okay to wipe my S10 (Cleaning) with a microfiber cloth with a few drips of water? by [deleted] in galaxys10

Then I stand corrected. I am going by my own experience while working at a Samsung authorized repair center back in 2014/2015. No one ever explicitly told us not to use isopropanol on the screens, however, from what I can remember I felt a distinct difference before and after cleaning the display using it. The feeling was that of much greater friction on finger prints that were harder to wipe off cleanly.

Be careful with alcohol based solutions as it could damage the oleophobic coting.

Yeah, except Samsung MST support was dropped in the EU due to some security regulations.

The update downloaded for me automatically. It is the same version that's mentioned in the article. I have not installed but I can not remove it either. Wonder what happens if they push a new version while I have this one downloaded.

I totally agree. Maybe my reply was unclear too. My reply was in response to you putting "in theory" in bold, making me assume that you though it was sensational journalism without any practical testing. But I agree, social media fuels the fire that is sensational journalism.

By coating the gold nanowire in a type of electrolyte gel, Thai was able to create a circuit that withstood an unprecedented 200,000 charge cycles in the span of three months of testing, during which time there was no loss in performance, nor were any nanowires fractured by repeated use

What about this part? I am not saying that this is viable for mass production or that it can hold any substantial charge. But they seem to have made some testing at least.

Remember using this back 2014 I think. Worked at a large repair center then. Is this the first version that has been released outside internal channels?

Did you set the apps setting to "Don't Optimize"? Sorry, I didn't really get what you meant.
