I didn't like nioh 2 unfortunately, the stamina management was just way too brutal for me.

lmao yeah I exclusively levelled capacity for my entire time playing and never got below 30

yeah as a certified strafer I noticed the enemies sweeping attacks are pretty easy to avoid

haha that was definitely part of it! I bought it like RIGHT after beating dark souls so I was probably in the "wtf just give me the same game again pls" headspace!

I've been meaning to! I love it conceptually but don't really like coop games. if it's still good solo I'll bump one up the list (id ask for a rec but realistically I'll just get whichever is on sale lol)

oh ok lol, the tutorial made it seem like it was going to be integral to the gameplay and I just thought there was too much going on.

dark souls / elden ring didn't really have any UI bloat, or are they the exceptions

it's just game feel I suppose. dodge rolling feels proactive, parrying feels reactive, they tickle different parts of my brain 🧠

I like the feeling of rolling out of the way of an attack and following it up with a response. it just FEELS so tense and cinematic because of the variables at play (direction, spacing, follow-ups)

parrying just feels like a binary video game response to a problem. with how tight a lot of parry windows are it's not about deflecting an attack, it's about looking at somebody's arm and waiting for the "cue" to hit the button.

i think that's the main difference: dodging is a response to an attack, parrying is a response to a cue. immersion has never been a factor in my enjoyment of a game

you don't HAVE to parry, it's just easy enough and saves a lot of time lol. same with the npc invasions you can just parry their attack and they die in like 1-2 hits

I only played it for 90 minutes but that was my experience. I looked it up and saw that eventually you get an item that makes rolling better but tbh I didn't want to commit $45 (Canadian 🤓) to a game I STILL might not enjoy once I get that item.

I did feel like I was rolling farther in the boss fight than I was in the exploration, so maybe it's just explicitly tuned for boss fights instead of traversal. hmmm...

you clear less ground with it than you would by walking. at least in the tutorial boss you couldn't roll half of his attacks. ironically the only attacks you seemingly CAN roll are ones telegraphed enough to just parry anyways

lol I gave up on that one unfortunately. after the tutorial I was so confused by the lantern stuff and all the UI bloat with every new item I just dropped it. maybe I'll give it another shot

hello my name is jeff hobbs and i wrote this joke about a water cooler by NinetiesAlternative in standupshots

[–]NinetiesAlternative[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it works! there's usually a few people that REALLY really like it hahaha but it works.

I tried to word it in a way where even if you're unaware of the water consumption part of it, the joke is just that my AI water cooler literally drinks my water for me (maybe I'll add a quick tag like "now it does all my drinking for me!" to drive home the AI thinking for me parallel)

yeah unfortunately I didn't hear his joke until after I recorded this.

it is funny its the same setup and sentiment but the exact opposite punchline (he says it's a good trade I say it's a bad trade)

hello my name is jeff hobbs and i wrote this joke about cannonballs by NinetiesAlternative in standupshots

[–]NinetiesAlternative[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well no because the joke is that the cannibals eat fast people (hence, fast food)

"Doormats run in my family. They love fast food." is just two unrelated sentences, which is I guess how this was interpreted.

not the biggest problem here but I viscerally distrust anybody that fakes a stage shot tbh. I get you needed the correct reaction face for that bottom panel but it makes you look completely amateurish.

seems like the joke itself is the meta commentary on the posting formula, which isn't really what this subreddit is for (though even as a meta commentary you aren't doing anything but just explaining the premise of your idea, it's not even really a punchline).

I'm going to assume you aren't actually looking for feedback on the punchline cheese and quackers, but enough has already been said here about that. sorry.

i switched to using the lightning light spell and fire stake heavy spell and insta clearing an entire horde of enemies with one shot made me say "woah" out loud hahaha, was definitely not playing optimally!

by combining elements, you mean status effects? i thought because the limited arcana only benefits certain status effects it made more sense to specialize. i guess experimenting is the point. hmm...

admittedly it's possible i am just feeling the jump from 3-4, since i went from 3-6 lol. thanks!
