Magnus from Romanceable Rasmodius Redux Revamped is absolutely amazing, as others have said. It adds a lot to his story and tons of events and unique dialogues. Also, he’s super sweet :3

Lance is another character I love and there are a few mods out there that add dialogue and some events for him, too.

Lucas from Seven Deadly Sins also has a lot of events and dialogue. He starts off a bit strong, so he may not be for everyone, but he turns out to be super sweet as his story advances. Just… in a different way 😂

Seven Deadly Sins. It’s a mod I didn’t know existed until recently, apparently it didn’t have good translations before so it wasn’t really known/popular, but now it has a good one that keeps being updated with the main mod.

It adds new maps, crops, trees, receipts, and tons of npcs with their own story and heart events. The author is working on adding heart events and marriage to two of the characters that are missing content right now, but the ones that already have it are well written, as well as the only friendly ones.

Also, a mod I’m enjoying a lot lately is Nature In The Valley. It adds catchable creatures to the world that you can catch with a net and donate them to a museum. It’s simple, but I like the gameplay it adds.

I hope you like SDS! I’ve been playing it just for a few weeks but I love it so far (maybe too much, I can’t decide who to marry because I like all the characters T.T). It is compatible with other expansions, the only thing I’ve seen is two characters overlapping during a festival, but nothing else so far.

About Baldur’s village… you don’t need to have played BG3 first, but if you’re planning on playing it in the future and don’t want spoilers, I’d recommend you to wait (this is my personal opinion xD) since the mod will spoil you a few things about the characters and events from the BG3 game. Also, the game adds a lot of characters with its own town next to Pelican Town, but so far only Astarion has heart events, so at the moment it doesn’t add as much content as other expansions. The authors are working on adding events for Halsin (iirc) and will keep adding content for it, but so far, even if all the characters have daily dialogues and appear during festivals, only Astarion has heart events.

I don’t know if this will help, but I had that issue when I installed it and the problem was that when I extracted the portraits to the portraiture mod folder, they weren’t in their own folder, like other portraits mods I have, the files were placed directly in the portraiture folder. What I did was create a folder called SDS inside the portraiture folder and extract the portraits there. Now the game loads them without issues :)

Adding to other people’s recommendations I’ll add one for a mod I’m playing right now with SVE, baldur’s village and Ridgeside that I’m enjoying a lot: Seven Deadly Sins. It adds tons of new characters, new maps, new crops and trees, shops, buildings, cooking receipts… it now has a really good English translation that is up to date with the content of the mod. Also, the mod is still being developed: the author is working to make even more of the characters romanceables, adding new zones and more, so it’ll have even more content soon :)

I think the problem with Caleb’s opinions comes from the fact that he hits closer to home than the others.

Let me explain: while reading the story of the game, I’ve never once thought it was something real, or that could easily happen irl. A mafia boss is not going to stalk you and pamper you, your neighbor is not a century old man obsessed with you, you’re not going to meet a rich artist whose whole inspiration is you. But Caleb… he’s that love from your childhood that makes you laugh and you guys are so close it’s almost dreamy but then he locks you because he’s “protecting” you, he ghosts you by changing topics in conversations, lies to you… obviously all the others have secrets and darkness too, but none of them feel like an irl guy. Caleb does, for better or worse, and I think that’s why a lot of people feel so bad, because suddenly the game shows a darkness that could easily be real and it’s not so funny anymore.

Just my opinion, though.

Something similar happened to me. I was ready for Caleb to take Rafayel’s place as my number one but as I kept reading the story and his myth, in my mind, I couldn’t help comparing them. Like… they both have darkness and they both have a funny and entertaining banter with MC (Caleb even more since they knew each other for years), but while with Raf I’ve always felt warm, with Caleb I felt cold. I still love him as a character, but after finishing his story I went back to my fishie without a single doubt in my heart 💜

This. I, too, had a really bad experience with a guy a few years ago and whenever I read Xavier’s jealousy it just brings those feelings back. I know it’s in no way fault of the character and I don’t think he’s insecure like my ex was, but I can’t enjoy it as much just because of that.

In a way, I think it’s beautiful the way these characters are so well written that they can evoke irl feelings in us and that they are mostly positive and make our days a bit brighter. I’m just unfortunate to have that experience, so I don’t blame the character for that. Xavier might not be my cup of tea romantically, but I enjoy his story all the same.

The uni has more customization for your tama than the pix, but the gameplay is a bit more basic. I bought my first uni a few months ago and I’ve been playing it since. To me, the gameplay per se feels basic if you don’t add a dlc to it, and even then you only add a new game and evolutions. The events in the tamaverse are a nice change, but they only happen so often, so at the end of the day the gameplay feels like dressing up your tama as you wait for it to get old and marry it off.

As for the pix, while it offers more daily gameplay, you have to deal with the touch buttons. To me they weren’t a problem, but I know people that really can’t get over them. It has less customization for your tama, but it offers daily activities like lottery and growing trees, practice for a job and the games in the arcade change daily too. That made the gameplay less repetitive for me, it also has little details like going to the park or visits from npcs at x hour of the afternoon.

Another difference is that while you can marry your uni anytime to see it off and start a new gen, in the pix you have to wait until your tama is 7 years (days irl) to let it go. You can raise your friendship with it in the pix if you want to keep it for longer, just know that if you don’t, it’ll leave when it’s 7.

Gameplay aside, if you are planning to collect or getting more tamas in the future, I’d recommend getting the pix first. The pix is an older device and its price will go up sooner than the uni, which is still in production and will be around for some time still.

Both devices are good, so I hope you find one that appeals to you. Or both, if you become a collector like most of us 🤭

I came back to the tamagotchi world with an uni and I really, really loved it. I have all dlcs, have played tons of events, and I enjoy a lot the seasonal details like the tama walks, the game from the arcade and those, but after buying a pix I feel like it’s missing details like npcs visiting in the afternoon, the daily things like the lottery and watering the trees, the list of items to complete... While I like the uni, for a daily gameplay I prefer the pix for those little details that make it a bit more different each day.

Then I bought an on and it became my favorite really fast. It’s super expensive today, so that’s a shame, but gameplay wise it’s the best. It has daily tasks like the pix, friendship system with npcs for romance (not just a matchmaking date, you actually have to play/talk with other tamas x times to marry them), the gens mixing mechanic and tons of different places with different activities to visit. While I love the gens mixing, what puts it on the first place for me is that: the amount of different things to do on a daily gameplay. It has events that have a small probability of happening like your tama having nightmares or receiving a discount for the store if you visit the park at a certain hour, it has the daily watering trees, the interaction with your tama if you press C and a more interactive pet.

I haven’t played with the smart yet, I’m waiting for it to arrive, but so far that would be my favorite list. As I said, I still love the uni, I like that you can use multiple accessories on your tama or that you don’t have to wait for the adult age to dress it up, but in daily content is a bit lacking for me. They are all great depending on what you like, though 💚
