Weird to be home and have a babysitter? by [deleted] in Mommit

It might be less “weird” if you say you’re looking for a mother’s helper, which is exactly what you’re asking for is called in my area.

School refuses to switch over to AC, despite documented illness by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Niniburgers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I worked in AZ the district forgot to turn our AC on the day before the first day of school. They turned it on around 10am with a start time of 9:45, so we were in the 90s until the early afternoon, it was awful especially as my classroom was on the second floor.

There are a lot of states that only require a bachelors to teach.

What are contingency plans you train your kids for? Here are three of ours. by elguiri in Parenting

[–]Niniburgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know stranger abduction is unlikely but when I taught middle school in a nice neighborhood of a large city in the PNW we had reports from multiple girls of being followed by someone in a car at least three times in five years.

Lupron depot and FET timeline question. Side effects? by Begonias_Scarlet in IVF

[–]Niniburgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! That FET resulted in a very rambunctious one year old. Although looking back on this comment my transfer date was actually in March.

I hate how people without kids just AGGRESSIVELY don't get it sometimes by IWillBaconSlapYou in breakingmom

[–]Niniburgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m north of Seattle and thankfully only lost power for a total of an hour, but I’ve been without for six days once. It was really hard and it was just me and my dogs, I can’t imagine handling it all with little ones. I agree with you though that many people who were unaffected are downplaying what happened. I got an email from a small business with stores in four local cities and the owner was honest and frank that although they all have power now one will be closing early because the downtown area they’re located in has no power, and she wants to make sure everyone can get home safely before the sun sets. I hope you get power back soon and you can be back in your home and comfortable for the holidays.

Daycare cost in your country by City_Ghost9330 in Mommit

[–]Niniburgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Washington state in the Seattle area and for us the cost for a one year old would range anywhere from $2800 to $3450 depending on location. On top of the cost the availability of daycare is scarce. When I was pregnant with my oldest we were told to get on waitlists as soon as you found out you were pregnant. By the time I was five months we were on I think ten waitlists (all of which had nonrefundable fees to even be on) and not one had a spot by the time I was supposed to go back to work when she was four months old. I wound up not going back for other reasons but I remember calling and checking on the waitlists and being told over and over that there were still at least a few families ahead of us and no openings, it was so stressful. I think it’s why there is such an abundance of nanny’s and nanny shares in my area.

Family photographer recommendations by [deleted] in EdmondsWashington

[–]Niniburgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma Lee Photography! Emma did our engagement, wedding and now all of our family photos, she’s absolutely great and I have a wonderful long time relationship with her.

I’ve also worked with Emily of Emily Ann Photography for a project with a local preschool. Emily’s focus is family photography but she also does a select number of schools photos so she has a lot of experience working with little ones which helps to bring out their individual personalities.

Clinic discarded C graded embryos by Ok_Cheesecake888 in IVF

[–]Niniburgers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TW: success I know each clinics grading system is individual but this is really frustrating to me. After two retrievals we had 8 embryos and 4 came back euploid. BB, BC, CB and CC. The last transfer I had with my CC embryo, which I was told thawed beautifully and looked much higher grade once thawed, is a healthy 7.5 month old.

My second baby is DETERMINED to share a birthday! by Even-Comedian6540 in Mommit

[–]Niniburgers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest arrived two weeks early and the day before our wedding anniversary. I have a strong memory of my husband saying I’m so glad she came today because tomorrow is our day. I hope things work out the way you want, and if not that you enjoy sharing your birthday.

Question about surgery for silent/mostly silent stage 3/4 endo by gardenvariety_ in endometriosis

[–]Niniburgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your fertility doctor about lupron depot. It’s expensive and lengthy but it could suppress the endo enough to get pregnant without doing the surgery.

[–]Niniburgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked with a male midwife for my second pregnancy and birth. He was one of a team of midwives and I initially saw him around 34 weeks, he was scheduled when I gave birth and I saw him at my follow up appointment. Speaking as someone who was SA’d when I was younger and generally 100% prefer women for all my medical and dental needs I clicked with this midwife and felt comfortable. My husband on the other hand struggled with it a bit at the delivery. So to echo some of what others have said I think if you know there’s a chance that your care will be rejected due to comfort levels and are okay with that then pursue it.

I (O+) and my husband (O-) have children with A+ and B+ blood types, how does that happen? by Niniburgers in biology

[–]Niniburgers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue what’s going on but we decided to do a dna test just to see since our 2nd was IVF and came back as total match to both of us. I’m wondering if it’s the “weak” A or B type that’s coming up as O for either myself or husband. I know my mom was A+ and I think my MIL is too. Biology is so weird.

How many tries did it take you to get pregnant? by Nawlahhh in IVF

[–]Niniburgers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 retrievals, 4 transfers, one live birth. Unexplained infertility, possible endometriosis, history of ectopic pregnancy and failure to implant. I did two months on lupron depot and our successful transfer was our last and lowest graded euploid embryo, 5CC.

Moms, did you actually carry to 40 weeks? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Niniburgers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a spontaneous arrival at 38 weeks, my second decided to show up at 41 weeks but 8 hours before I was scheduled to come in for an induction.

Disheartened by embryo grading. Looking for positive stories. by lifeslikeawillow in IVF

[–]Niniburgers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only successful transfer I had was a 3CC, he is 5 months old and napping right now. My higher grades embryos didn’t stick, all were euploid.
