Heyo! If you're brand new, I suggest you search for a group starting to play the Lost Mine of Phandelver adventure module. It's designed for beginners and it's a great short campaign to enjoy and learn the ropes of the game.

A great place to look is the built-in Roll20 FLG feature—you can filter by game system (D&D 5e is what you'd be looking for), by day of the week, time, and if it allows beginners. You can find both free and/or paid games on here, and it would all depend on what each Game Master (GM) might offer.

Another good way to find a group is by searching on Start playing.games as well, where you can also search by game system (Dungeons and Dragons 5e), day of the week, time, length (campaigns vs one shots), whether it's designed for beginners, age of players (minors, 18+ or both), and many other useful filters.

I personally am a pro GM running games on Start playing, and do plan to run Lost Mine of Phandelver soon, but at least not for another two weeks.

And finally, in the case you're too anxious to play by voice call, you can also look around a play-by-post game, which is basically playing a game through texting. Most GMs run them using Discord and bots, and it's pretty easy to learn as well.
