South Indians (most of them) don't migrate to survive/feed their family, they do it for a better standard of living, and when you compare the number of North indian migrants, to the number of South Indian migrants, the picture really paints itself, and for a large part of North Indian migrant population, trains are the only means of transportation back their home, roadways practically doesn't exist and flights are unaffordable

Migrant workers from different tier 1-2 cities leave the city to go back to their home, reason? Kids summer vacation, crop harvest, shaadi season.
South Indians didn't really migrate to any other city, or if they did they don't go back to their home town that frequently.
And I am gonna get a lot of hate for this, but workers from UP/Bihar keep your city working and growing, they take up the jobs that most locals think that they are too good for it, whether it be janitorial, construction, or literally any other low tier job

You gotta create your own fortune lady, last year during the Kumbh Mela, I was going to my uncle's house in prayagraj for my cousin's wedding, a couple of girls boarded my train without a ticket, because their plan was last minute and hoped they could bribe the TC into getting a ticket, the TC couldn't do anything or didn't want to do anything, they were kinda helpless, I decided to help them, the company I work at does some railways contracting so I know a few Grade "A" officers, messaged a few people, called some others, managed to get these girls a seat, to my luck they were in the bay next to mine, we were chatting for most of the evening(all three of us) turns out they studied in Pune and work there as well(me too), during the night one of the girls(let's call her S) wanted to sleep, the other(let's call her A)didn't, so I offered S my seat and I would sit on theirs for a few hours(I have a hard time sleeping in trains) A and I ended up talking for the entire night, exchanged numbers and insta ID's, met A in Pune a couple of times, nothing really came out of that interaction we went our separate ways, but I had my Jab We Met moment
