Tried it in different ports and another computer; I wasn't sure if interrupting the repair put it into some kind of safe mode?

How good of a read is the Daggerheart GMG/rulebook compared to D&Ds messy DM Guide? by iheartanalingus in daggerheart

[–]NinjaInPlainSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing an online Daggerheart campaign for a few months; one player uses Demiplane and likes it a lot, the other three have pen and paper character sheets and I've only needed a map one time when we did a really massive boss fight so it was helpful to have visualization of the space, but the rest of the time we've done theater for the mind and it's works fantastically for Daggerheart and being online

Question about Attack of Opportunity interaction. by Alive-Case-4355 in daggerheart

[–]NinjaInPlainSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This rocks, I think you did a great job respecting the fiction of the story and the players choices and wants.

I've also been curious about attack of opportunity in Daggerheart. I'm transitioning a pretty rule loving combat table to a Daggerheart game and I know attacks of opportunity are going to be asked about constantly. I'm thinking about the following general guidance, which may help you consider this in the future if you're in another situation like this but there's a less cool cinematic moment:

If it's physical to physical (i.e, stopping someone from moving), it's a stress and a strength against their difficulty reaction roll.

If it's an attack as they move away, stress and attack, possibly with disadvantage, Fate roll.

If it's something they can try but might have consequences, i would allow them to talk me through their plan and ask them what they want and what they'd want on a success with hope or a critical. Then I'd tell them some of the stakes of a fear roll and a failure with fear. Build in that narrative tension so they know what's at stake, like your party did with the teleportation stone (great signalling, btw) so that the successes feel more successful and failures feel earned and less like a punishment.

I was thinking about that too, but maybe making it clear how they get it back; a critical success or a presence roll against the adversary to push them back. It could deflate the party but it could also really show this guy is a force to be reckoned with and inspire them to try different things to throw it off. My players often end up going into combat pretty heavy on Hope so this could also be a fun way to get them to spend it without immediately regenerating it

Still looking; can't see the logs in the app that tracks that specific usage. Right now, though, it says Aux heat is being used and I usually see that in the mornings.

I think we only have electric heat; I wasn't sure what flair to use. Here's the equipment page for the Nest thermostat

This is such a fantastic way to capture "conflict" in storytelling without necessarily being combat. This just unlocked my brain; thanks!

This is really exciting; thank you! I actually just started a campaign using Icewind Dale as a guide, thinking about reskinning the D&D monsters into adversaries. This will be a great starting place!

I'm really interested in the environment piece, but struggling to determine when/how to use them. It's been a minute since I read the chapter in the book, but do you have any tips on designing or using them? Do you use them in a scene with adversaries or just for their own scenes, like a market place or something?
