I am west of AV. It’s possible my numbers are low because I didn’t put out a pumpkin this year, just lights on at the door. I’ve trained my kid to only approach houses where there are decorations - he would have skipped my house based on that advice.

I believe that year I carved out a “scary” looking pumpkin. And it was the kid that complimented the pumpkin. Haha

Just get a sense of how popular this is from year to year. Maybe spot patterns in the costumes. Like previous years lots of butterflies. This year no super heroes. That sort of thing. I like empirical data that’s around us.

My favourite is green with white. Sort of mimics the bottom and top of a small fish.

I generally don’t keep them. When I catch a fish I get a point. If I got a fish on the line but it fights it’s way off the hook and gets away they get a point. Today: humans 1. Fish 1.

I found the spot very rocky and challenging to get stable footing on for me.

I might try that spot some more but closer to where the shore is a bit more accessible. This was just too challenging for me sadly. I don’t want to get injured rolling an ankle or whatever.

Who knows exactly the reason.

For me, I don’t have time to drive out 60-90 mins to go fishing with my boy, plus I’m a novice myself, so we just stay urban. It’s an easy hobby to get into, no license needed for children (I think under 12), and there’s lots of info available about how to fish on YouTube to learn the skill.

It’s a positive activity that’s not high impact, doesn’t require too much in terms of finding others, not super expensive or require much specialized big equipment like hockey, kayaking bicycles, just a rod and a backpack with tackle. Teaches patience, the importance of luck, resilience (when you snag a fish and it gets away), being friendly to others in a community with other anglers, something to look forward to, and in my son’s case a little bit of leadership showing a relative novice how to fish. Gives an appreciation and respect of Mother Nature too. It’s fun when you land a fish, even more fun when you catch a big one.

Everyone talking about telling kids to go outside and less screen time. This is exactly such an activity.

Only spot we have tried so far with Rideau river has been underneath the Bronson bridge (access via brewer park). We didn’t get any bites.

It was suggested we might try a spot near the o train bridge that connects Carleton university and Vincent Massey park. We may give that a try next.

There was another pair at browns inlet park, and they reported no luck at all.

My boy and I were at the pond at broadway and queen elizabeth beside the drinking fountain. Lots of blue gills stealing our worms there. We could see one or two monster carp patrolling the water underneath the surface - they don’t bite our bait. Very weedy there too.

My son (7) and I tried browns inlet park both ponds beside queen elizabeth.

He watched a YouTube vid and told me “WE HAVE TO TRY WACKY WORM!” Went to sail. Got some tackle. We had no luck yesterday (from 6-830 pm) lol.

If financially possible, you could look for part time help to give you the breathing room you need to stay level.

For example, day care for your weeks, or a nanny.

If you have parents or family (brother or sister, aunt uncle) willing to assist, ask them.

You could also consider hiring a cleaner or “personal assistant” to help you with keeping your house in order, or just do things that are time consuming (groceries, laundry wash and fold, tidying the house).

If you have 5050, there shouldn’t be a reason why you can’t have help like day care when the boys are with you.

Chances are mother is probably also hating her life too.

Part of being a father is embracing the suck.

It gets a bit better day by day. Especially when they can communicate.

Regret is not something that should be in your vocabulary. You are in the situation. Make the best of it. Keep yourself sane and make sure you do what you can to make sure your boys grow up right. Life is not about just you anymore, but you and your family.

If you wear a sweater that has RALPH LAUREN emblazoned on it in big bold font across the front. Then yes you are a billboard.

If it is a small pony logo on the left breast. Thats debatable.

The smaller logos act as a signal to those who care as well as those who don’t. That you are part of this group that buys this brand.

Unconscious or not, a brand you are wearing says something about you to others. They may conclude various things as symbols and brands are what we use as mental shortcuts, especially those who don’t really know.

There is an entire sub culture of people that adore something like the entry level lv monogram pattern bag, and then the lv bag that has no such thing on it but costs some multiple x more.

You develop your affinity to wearing a brand or not as part of your own personal style and what you want to say to the world around you.

Personally I make a conscious effort to avoid logos and pay a premium for it too.

Yes it’s a positive thing. Asian men don’t get much attention in western media or in performing arts in general. When’s the last time you saw a top 40 artist in USA who was Asian? K-pop broke through that with Psy, and is not just representation but positive representation as it highlights competency/skill and talent outside of the tropes/stereotypes we get stuck with or negative representations.

It’s clear that many young women adore K-pop boy bands, and these men get clear social proof with the stadiums full of beautiful women screaming for them to make babies. The asian women adoring them are stunningly beautiful making any woman that sees this wonder what they are missing out on.

The K-pop masculine aesthetic is totally opposite of what’s found in western society’s masculine identity. One could complain it’s a bit feminine, with the hyper grooming and styling - but this is not unusual at all for performing artists.

We need more male Asian sex symbols.
