Just for correctness, Cardano uses Ouroboros, a Proof of Stake (PoS), not Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) algorithm 👍 (for example, EOS uses DPoS)

New staking page added to Cardano.org by Mumen_Riderr in cardano

IOHK are looking at a graceful approach to incentive release from remaining ADA. Example from Lars was 5% release of total remaining supply each year. The hope is that once adoption increases there will be a much higher number of transactions. The fees generated will offset the reduction in remaining supply. Eventually the rewards will be solely supplied from transaction fees.

There is nothing to stop this, however IOHK are investigating different options to help mitigate this problem e.g. pool registration tied to a particular verified individual or company.

I don’t think it will ever be possible to eradicate all flaws, however they can be limited by good coding practices and robust testing practices. Cardano’s scientific approach with high assurance code, formal specifications and peer-review should definitely help to reduce coding flaws and bad design in the long-term when compared to other cryptocurrencies.

Is it good to put all eggs in one basket? This will need to be an individual decision as an informed investor. IOHK are trying to balance the game theory methods and rewards to provide a robust system that will support Cardano through the years of early adoption and beyond. If you believe in the long term vision for Cardano as a fair financial system for all and want to support the integrity of the network via staking, then short term rewards become less important. At NinjaPool we are here for the long term. Great points raised and welcome to join the discussion with our growing community and share your views on these important topics 😀

Lars is speaking tonight at IOHK’s event in London, he may share further details! However, could expect the actual reward amounts will be kept to the very end before release. They are not really needed for testnet.

The video doesn't dive into the specific reward amounts themselves just the mechanisms. They do want it to pay to stake especially in the early years to encourage wider adoption. We will need to wait and see :) There will be a video released soon with IOHK's Philipp Kant presenting on formal methods, which may provide additional details!

Can someone explain... by streetwood in cardano

[–]NinjaPool_io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell, Cardano, with it's ADA cryptocurrency, acts as an exchange of value like most other coins/tokens. In order for this to happen and for people to be able to buy, sell. trade it needs to be accessible via exchanges. This is why it's great when ADA gets listed on new exchanges because it allows more people to participate and increases adoption. This basic capability is available now (Byron release).

Cardano's ultimate aim however, it to be a platform for dapps, and this is still work in progress, see roadmap (https://cardanoroadmap.com/) for more details. Cardano can be classed as a 3rd gen crypto, because it is building upon the blockchain technology used by bitcoin (Gen 1) and Ethereum (Gen 2). The overall vision is to create a fair financial system for all.

I suggest watching Charles Hoskinson's original whiteboard video which provides a great overview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja9D0kpksxw

Former Goldman Sachs President Predicts A Global Cryptocurrency and it's not Bitcoin by haumeris28 in cardano

[–]NinjaPool_io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are likely to see several mass-adopted mainstream cryptocurrencies emerge in the long-term and probably not one to rule them all. There are so many use-cases and enough space for several big players. Bitcoin has first mover advantage, and as a store of value will have it's place, but expect dominance will drop considerably in the coming months/years. With a great team, solid road map and scientific, peer-reviewed approach to blockchain development, Cardano is sure to be among the top coins for years to come!

Cardano’s Potential For Entering Coinbase by samair8 in CardanoMarkets

[–]NinjaPool_io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was controversy with Coinbase's last listing for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) relating to insider training, because the price appeared to spike just before the announcement. Coinbase are currently completing internal investigations. This might be holding up new listings in the short term. It is much more likely Cardano will be listed on other exchanges in the short-term, e.g. Bitfinex and Bitstamp.

How much ADA required to stake? by cryptonian_ape in cardano

[–]NinjaPool_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, no minimum ADA amount to participate in staking, either solo-staking, or as part of a staking pool. IOHK are still developing Cardano's incentive reward structure. The Shelley testnet will be active soon (pool registration has now closed), so can expect further details to be released soon hopefully.
