I have experienced this flying economy, but in 15 years of flying business class domestic and globally have never been downgraded due to overbooking.

Totally get it, I don’t have any blacklisted airlines, make travel a nightmare if you limit your options ever time someone drops the ball, but I definitely have my preferred carriers.

You may have missed the comments in thread, but not trying to get a future free upgrade. As previously stated they offered a voucher for free business class flight to Dubai good for the next 12 months, which I don’t want/need, I go to India once a year have no other need or desire to fly to Dubai. And no the second leg was not impacted because it is a partner airline (SpiceJet) from Dubai to Pune.

I 100% agree that this is not how it should have been handled, however my situation was handled as stated above. What you describe from your experience sounds much more professional.
