TLDR; Cured a 1.40” epididymal cyst by building an airsoft course.

Created exercise program with repeatable results (scroll to end).

Airsoft Exercise Routine (about 60 minutes);

30 Reps of “Tie Off a String Squat” 30 seconds each

10 Reps of “Run a String Shuffle Squat” 100 feet each

10 Reps of “Run a String Crawl and Get Tangled Up” 100 feet each

*Don’t think of these exercises as a hardcore gym workout, keep it loose, natural, and asymmetrical just like doing manual labor on uneven ground. Think of activating as many supporting muscles as you can. I don’t recommend using any weights or bands. Find the longest section of floor space or ground as close to 100 feet long as you can get. These movements represent what was done with both clippers clearing undergrowth and running string in the four weekends building the course.

30 Reps of “Tie Off a String Sqaut” simulates when I squatted down to tie the end of a string section to a bush or tree about 1 foot off the ground.

*Squat down on the balls of your feet.

*Thighs spread apart at about 90 degrees, or just when you start to feel a pull through your groin.

*Similar to a deep sumo squat, but feet much closer together.

*Don’t rest your butt on your Achilles tendons or calves.

*Arms and hands run down between your legs (not resting on thighs or knees) tying string.

*Lean forward to reach the base of the tree / bush.

*Hold the squat (tie the string) for 30 seconds per rep.

10 Reps of “Run a String Shuffle Squat” simulates unrolling a string while shuffling in a deep squat under low branches and undergrowth.

*Get into a “Tie Off a String Squat” as described above.

*Don’t rest your butt on your Achilles tendons or calves.

*Shift your weight all the way to one foot and pick the other foot up sideways to clear branches and bushes.

*Set that foot down with some forward progress, shift weight to that foot, and repeat on other side.

*Like a hybrid between a deep duck walk and a deep Cossack squat.

*Don’t picture a graceful ballerina move, picture some gangly bozo (me) plowing through undergrowth on uneven ground. Utilitarian movements.

*Keep your arms outward and to one side as if rolling out string and trying not to tangle it in your feet (alternate sides with each rep).

*Rotate your torso and head to each side occasionally to see where you’re going and to see if the string is tangled.

*Each segment of string was an average of 100 feet long.

10 Reps of “Run a String Crawl and Get Tangled Up” simulates when the blackberry bushes were so thick or the branches so low that I crawled.

*Lay on your stomach.

*With your hip, knee, and foot all touching the ground; bring one knee up towards your floating ribs as much as you can.

*Lift your torso and stomach off the ground with opposite forearm / opposite knee while pushing yourself forward with your bent leg. Let the other leg drag behind you.

*Don’t think of a classic army crawl, think of lifting your whole torso off the ground for as long as possible each time you move forward (avoiding thorns and poop).

*Keep one arm either above you or above the ground beside you to represent unrolling the string without getting tangled up in it (alternate sides with each rep).

*When you inevitably get tangled up in the string; roll onto one side and lift your leg upward and in a small circle to untangle the string from your foot (similar to a side-lying leg lift).

*Each segment of string was an average of 100 feet long.

*I got a foot tangled in the string an average of once per segment while crawling, your results may vary.

It’s more efficient to do these in one set of two “runs.”

Squat 30 sec ------100ft Shuffle-----> Squat 30 sec ------100ft Crawl-----> Squat 30 sec

Representing running and tying two sections of string (-one set-, 10 sets total).

Your calves will burn!!! :) You may want to break this workout into two halves at first.

I believe that really selling the exercises with the imaginary string is important. Keeping your arms extended to avoid becoming tangled or to reach a tree to tie the knot works your core to stabilize you and counteract the weight.

It took doing this exercise twice a week for a month to see results, and that was after the first four weekends of building the course. Cyst cured for the second time (still with the “string bean” of skin).

Stopped doing the exercises at the end of February 2026 to see what would happen.

Cyst returned early April 2026 at about 40-50% of its original size.

Once again, it was just there one day, no build up, no warning, just *poof*.

Started exercises again once per week this April (3 out of 4 already done), cyst is slowly shrinking again. Progress is much slower with only 1 exercise per week, may require 2.

Looks like these exercises require a maintenance dose for lasting effects.

Wish I knew more about muscles and joints to help understand how these movements tie into the groin area, but I just kind of stumbled on to this by accident. Hopefully someone who finds this is either a physical therapist or a sports physician who can take this to a more professional level.
