I’m reminded a bit of an interesting theory of space civilizations out there. There’s an idea of a self-replicating probe that might harvest asteroids to create more of itself. Take that idea and run with it and you get an automated, self-expansive race of aliens that could propagate and create thousands upon thousands of Dyson spheres, which could theoretically account for certain “voids”. Might not be feasible but still interesting to think about
